teapot?

Jim and I are wild and crazy.

He mentioned in passing that he wishes we had a teapot.  We drink a lot of tea here, but we just either boil water on the stove, or microwave it.  His birthday is coming up.  This might be a great gift.  I kind of want to get something fun and unusual (but stovetop safe).  Any suggestions for local or online to look?

Teapot for my husband's birthday.  Par-ty animals.

Re: teapot?

  • Have you thought about an electric teapot?  Where you plug it in and it heats the water--no stovetop required?  These are usually much faster than standard stovetop teapots and I believe they are more energy efficient than firing up an entire burner.  You can find a good selection at Bed Bath & Beyond.

Otherwise, this is way out of your way, but Magnum Coffee Roastery in Spring Lake has lots of cute hot beverage supplies.

  • You two are adorable.

I would check out the Teavana store that recently opened in Rivertown Crossings Mall.

  • I like the look of an old school teapot.  Good suggestion, though.  It lead me to consider a place closer to home that I forgot about.  Thanks!

  • Is there a difference between a pot and a kettle?  There isn't, right?

Ooh... I didn't know about that store.  Thanks, Kasa.

I *think* a teapot and a tea kettle are the same thing, D&M.

  • I love my tea kettle! I cannot suggest where to get one though because mine was my grandmas! Those things last a looooooonnnnnngggg time! LOL!

Actually a kettle is what you warm the water in. A pot is what the tea is steeped in.  :o)

  • A-ha!  Good to know, Missy.  So, thus far my kettle has been a saucepan, and the pot is the coffee mug.  We're clearly not practicing the rituals of high tea over here.

  • Art of the Table and Global Infusion have lots of cute ones, but I'm not sure if any of them are stovetop safe. Our teakettlepot is from Target - we boil the water in it from the stove and it makes the delightful shrieking noise when it's ready. I also would have suggested Spice Merchants if they were still in EGR.

Oh! Just thought of this. We stumbled upon a cute new little Michigan kitchen store while ArtPrizing. It's in the new MoDiv shops, on Monroe Center across from the police department. They had a whole tea section and I know I saw some teakettles - check there.

Really?!  I must visit this store.

  • Chymes, is it next to a paper store?  I noticed that yesterday, Jim said he thinks they were pop up stores just for ArtPrize.

Yes, it is, and no, they're not just for ArtPrize. The space is now called the MoDiv Shops and about 75% of it is already leased out to little shops, including a Wolverine Shoes satellite store.

    MoDiv = Monroe and Division

I'm trying to picture this.  Is it in the old Little Bohemia space?

Exactly right! Then it was Site:Lab for a little while.
