DH and I have been married a little over 4 months now and as Im sure most of you did, we're constantly being asked when we're going to have a baby. DH usually responds with "never". When we shop for our nieces & nephews he's in and out and refuses to look at baby clothes when I comment on them. I know he wants kids, but he was making me a bit nervous.
So yesterday we're in some sports store and he sees a Red Sox baby robe and comments on how he wanted it, and I replied with my usual "Over my dead body" and somehow that sparked an honest to God baby talk. He told me he avoids the baby sections because he's got the daddy itch really bad but wants me to finish school first so instead he tries to keep quiet so I dont get the mommy itch any worse than I already have it. I have 2.5 yrs left ![]()
We talked about concerns that we'll be close to 28 when we start trying (not too old I know, but we both hoped for kids prior to being 30) and how it took my mom 4 yrs of trying and the concerns of miscarriage and what if we cant even have one, etc. Then we talked baby names (which we often do for fun anyways) but the men in his family are all only boys with multiple sisters, so we talked about his desire to have a boy to carry on his last name and talked (for the first time ever) about boy names and how many tries we were willing to make for a boy.
All in all it was an amazing talk that was very much needed for me. I know I have another 2 yrs before we're willing to try, but I'm so excited!

Bridgett!! I'm so glad you were able to have such an honest and open talk w/ Josh.
I'm excited for you to start trying whenever you are ready
We are trying again... and tbh, I am more scared now than I was before. Fx for all of us that it will happen when the time is right.
