DH and I would like to go away for three nights over Veterans Day weekend in November since we will both have off on Friday and I will have an AWS day on that Monday. DH will be at a conference in Houston until that Thursday night so the plan is to meet each other somewhere on Friday. I'd prefer to keep my flight $300 or less if possible, but that is not a requirement.
So where would you go for three nights in mid-November? Ideas that we have discussed include New Orleans, Miami, Boston, or somewhere else in New England. However, we're not sure if the fall foliage will still be there in New England which would be our main reason to head up that way.
Re: Where would you go? - Travel question
by early november there will be little to no foliage left in new england so if the main goal would be seeing the leaves you'd probably be disappointed. i was in NH in august and there were already some small patches of yellow, orange, and red.
of the places you mentioned, i'd probably lean towards new orleans. what about chicago?
Ditto pp - I'd guess fall is pretty much over by nov.
Austin is a fun city for a weekend trip and near where DH would be.
Other options would be Nashville (and the surrounding smokey mountains might have some of that fall foliage action) or maybe Savannah.
Yea my thought was fall would be over in New England by then. Too bad because SW has super cheap flights to Providence right now ($130 roundtrip!!).
I'm pushing for New Orleans but DH is resisting because he is going to a bachelor party there in July or August.
Anyplace sunny!
We were in Key West (flew direct from BWI) the first weekend of December last year and it was still GORGEOUS!
Skip New England... it will just be 10 degrees colder than here...
Key West didn't even cross my mind. neither of us have ever been...
