i'd love your recs! we'll be there for a week in november, we've never been to spain so we're more than a little excited for this trip! i am an art/architecture geek, DH has become one too so we'll definitely be hitting the museums, sagrada familia, park guell, etc... we're big foodies and definitely want to visit a winery. we're also planning to go to cook & taste after MrsSstrug's rave.

TIA

p.s. i've also read the travel board recs recently but i am asking here since i know a few of you have been very recently

Re: **barcelona girls**

  • I think you saw my post on the travel board. We loved Barcelona, we weren't there for that long as we stayed one day before and after a cruise but I'd love to go back! We went to Casa Batllo which I really enjoyed, we didn't make it up to park guell but a lot of people say its great. The food/wine tour I mentioned before was amazing, there was no shortage of food or wine and it was fun to learn about the different nieghborhoods and the history of Barcelona. That was through Spainsh Trails and I would highly rec. them. We walked past the Picasso museum and the long went on forever so we didn't go in. The area that Casa Batllo is in I think its called Eixemple or something like that, the buildings there are all fascinating to look at and its nice just to walk around. Have fun!
  • Barcelona is a great city! We had so much fun just walking around the city. Definitely wander through the Gothic quarter...we found lots of great little tapas places in that area. We went to one where you paid by toothpick. We also found another cute place that had glasses of cava for $2.50. Of course, I didn't write any of the names down :) Sagrada Familia is a must, as is Parc Guell. Take the bus from near Sagrada Familia to Parc Guell - definitely better than trying to walk it.

We found Las Ramblas too busy for our liking. Plus it's nothing that amazing. Champs Elysees in Paris is better. However, La Boqueria (which is right there off Las Ramblas) is awesome. We had a great time wandering around and getting fresh food and treats. Plus it smells fresh and it's amazing to see the size of some of the seafood they are selling.

If FC Barca will be home while you are there, go see a match. We went to the last home game in May and saw them be presented La Liga trophy. the atmosphere was insane and we definitely got caught up in it :) You can bring in food to the game as an FYI. I think we paid about 75 euro per ticket via the FC Barca site.

I wanted to go to the Picasso museum, but there wasn't time and the lines were always so long. We did go to a Barcelona history museum that was nice - it was something my husband saw as we were walking around one day and he wanted to go.
