A friend of my family just found a stray 2-4 week old kitten in her front bushes. She took it in but can't keep the kitten for a slew of reasons. I told her about this no-kill shelter that we got our second cat from. She called them and they don't take strays. What the hell kind of shelter is that?!

Re: No Kill Shelter Vent
Whaaaat??
I have never heard of that before.
I'm wondering if she misunderstood them because they're website says they have a capacity and to call before bringing an animal to them.
I'd be really upset if they only take surrendered animals.
Nope she said they told her they refuse to take strays but she could say it was her animal but then they wouldn't let her adopt for several years.
It's just so sad...that poor kitten doesn't have a good chance.
I would not just give him away for free, but usually I see people request a statement on what kind of home he is going to and why they would be a good family for the kitten, and charge a re-homing fee.
I recently took in a little stray kitty that started hanging around my friends house. I was trying to get her into a no-kill shelter, but a ton of them said they only took strays pulled from Animal Control. I don't have the heart to turn her over to AC and cross my fingers she gets pulled, so I have her in my spare bedroom lol.
