PAIF/SAIF/PGAL welcome
I don't think she did it, so I'm glad she's free. I hope she's able to get back to living a somewhat normal life, but that could be difficult.
I don't know if anyone knows, but did they ever mention if there were issues between Amanda and the roommate? I never heard that stated.
my read shelf:
IDK, but I would like to know, too. Maybe I'll read her book when it comes out.
I haven't watched much of the coverage before, but today watching the live verdict, my jaw hit my desk seeing the Jesus looming over the courtroom. Talk about fcked up (in my American separation-of-church-and-state, please, opinion).
From what I've read (book, articles, etc.), there was mixed info about this. Don't quote me, I could be wrong, but my recollection is that the prosecutor tried to say there were big issues between them (Amanda was messy, didn't pay rent on time, etc.) but their other roommates said things were fine.
From what I've read, I don't think she did it - I think the police work was appalling, evidence was severely lacking and the Italian justice system is all kinds of insane. It does not sound like the kind of place I would want to be on trial for something like that, that's for sure.
ETA: And also, add in a language barrier as you try to defend yourself, and it's just a giant mess.

Today she did her 15 minute speech or whatever it was in Italian. Was she not fluent before?
I might have shed a tear when they said she was free. I have don't know much about the case, but I can't imagine being locked up for 4 years when I was innocent.
I guess she spoke enough to get by...I mean, she was studying there and all. But when she was being questioned before she was arrested she needed a translator (and didn't always get one, if I remember correctly). I don't think she was really fluent enough to clearly get her story across. And then there are just some subtle differences in translation, like one example was the police analyzed a text message she sent to her boss (who was originally accused of being the third person who committed the crime) - I guess he told her she didn't have to come in that night, so she said "okay, see you later!" Obviously when we say "see you later" it doesn't always literally mean "okay, I'll see you later tonight," it's just a general greeting type thing. But the police interpreted it to mean they had plans to meet up later and commit the murder. Differences like that just add to the scariness of being accused of something so serious in a foreign country. Yikes.
