I know my last post provoked many different opinions/points of view.
I just wanted to follow up..
No one ever told our closing attorney that we weren't supposed to close Friday at 8am, and they thought it was all taken care of.
So we showed up at 8, and signed papers. Then went to get our moving truck and started packing it up. Our REA said they were still trying to figure their side out, BOA lowered the amount they needed to pay to 676 from 860. Our agent gave 200, their agent gave 200 and their referring agent gave 100. Their closing attorney took care of the rest.
Obviously, if we had to pay it or else we would lose the house, we would have. It's the fact that they were "ready" to close 2 weeks ago, but they really weren't because they didn't have the money. From what our attorney said, she was telling them not to worry about it, that we would pay it, or our lender would give them a lender credit for it.
Not so much.
But, regardless, locks are changed, the majority of our stuff is here and we couldn't be happier.
My only advice for those interested in a short sale would be: Don't Do It!!
It was bout 103 days total from start to move in. (which really isn't that bad..it's just that something wen't 'wrong' with every aspect of the entire process.)
Thanks for all of the advice & support.

Wow, 103 days from start to finish!? That's a really quick turn around for a short sale. I'm glad everything worked out.
FWIW, I think SS can be great if you know what you are in for re: the long, time consuming process. In my area practically every house is either a SS or a foreclosure, so there's really no way around looking at them as potential homes for us. You can also score a really sweet deal if you are willing and able to wait it out.
I've read many of your posts and if I'm being honest, it sounds like you really didn't know what you were getting involved with when you started this. I remember you frequently getting frustrated at the bumps in the road during your [relatively] minimal wait for your SS. I think most people on this board are aware that a SS can be a pain in the butt, but if you find the right house for the right price the wait may be worth it in the end.
