New Tide Front Loading Maintenance Cleaner...any one try?

I saw a commercial on a Tide front load washing machine cleaner to get that moldy smell out. Has anyone tried it? Any feedback would be appreciated...

I have used it a few times and love it. It has a really nice scent, but isn't a scent that transfers to your clothes when washed. I think the directions say to use it monthly, but I just use it when the washer smells a little off.

I've also used it, and like PP just use it when I feel the washer needs a little cleaning and not every month

No but Dr. Oz actually did a segment on this today. They were talking about wiping the front loader down after every wash and doing cycle with no clothing using bleach every so often. Those machines can be a pain to keep up with!

I just run a cycle with white vinegar (no clothes, just vinegar and hot water). It does the same thing and vinegar is ~$1 for a big jug.

No, the washer does not smell like vinegar when its done. It has no smell at all.

I heard that doing at least 1 santitary cycle / hot water run every couple of weeks should do the trick. If you always wash in cold water it's breeding ground for mold, etc...the vinegar is a great idea! I'll try that one too. I love my FL washer, but do want to make sure it stays in tip top shape! Makes me feel a little better knowing that others are keeping up with theirs.

Thanks for that tip! It was $7 for the Tide machine cleaner!! I thought that was really high. I'll try your way next time...

Yeah, I'm a cheapass. There's no way I'm spending $7 for washing machine cleaner.

Just run a cycle with hot water and about a cup of white vinegar. A big jug will last a long time... unless you're me and use it for everything from fabric softener, to cleaning, to cooking.

Same thing works in your dishwasher. If it ever gets a little smelly, clean out the food trap (bottom of the pan, usually toward the back) and run an empty cycle with a cup of vinegar. It'll be nice and clean again.

Where do you put the vinegar? In the detergent space in the washer (i assume) but where in the dishwasher? Ive heard of doing this before but never knew where it goes!

In the dishwasher... just dump it in the pan. Use about a cup.

Vinegar is a natural disinfectant, so it'll make things all clean and non-smelly again.

I agree with some PP's, just try vinegar, it's cheaper! I am not a huge bleach fan, but on the occasion I run a cleaning cycle with bleach because it mentions that in my washer manual. I've had my front loader for 6 years and I've never had stink problems!
