Hi ladies. I have celebrated 8 birthdays with my husband and I have never made him his birthday cake. My mother always does and throws a fit if I say I want to do it. By "making" him a cake I mean just a box cake so no big deal (even though they are yummy and no offense to anyone).
This year I am getting to make MH's cake. He loves strawberry cake. I want to do a homemade from scratch cake. I was wondering if any of you had any tried and true (and easy) strawberry cake recipes. I want to make it in 2 round cake pans and have it be a double layer cake. I have done some searching online for recipes, but it is always nice to know I am making something that someone else has made, and is good. Thanks!
Re: Birthday Cake
I've only made these 2...
but I wanted to say good luck and congrats on getting to make the cake
This is the white cake with strawberry frosting I make every summer. The picture is terrible, as it was the most humid day of the summer when I took it.

Or you can probably reduce the milk in the cake recipe by 1/4 of cup and use 1/4 cup of strawberry puree. That would probably turn out okay.
I'm 99% sure this is the strawberry cake recipe I've used and it was really good:

I also found this one, which looks promising and I'm generally a big fan of Smitten Kitchen's recipes:

Now I need an excuse to make one again...mmmm.
Good luck!
Oh, hang on. I have something bookmarked. Let me see if I can find it.
ETA: Okay. I'm dying to make this: http://lickthebowlgood.blogspot.com/2009/04/spring-celebration-cake.html
