Anyone else's kid try to drop the wrong nap?
I know Jovie did, so Ally and I have talked about that. Cam has it all backwards.
He still takes a morning nap a couple of hours after waking for the day. This is usually his "good" nap. He's really fighting his afternoon naps. Most of the time he won't even take one at Ally's and if he does it's super short. That leaves him cranky for the rest of his afternoon there. He usually gets a second wind once he's picked up. We eat dinner, play a little, do bedtime routine, and he's down between 8-8:30.
Has anyone else experienced this? Will he eventually adjust by moving his nap later in the day? Any suggestions for encouraging this? TIA!
Re: Anyone else's kid try to drop the wrong nap?
DS did this, after a really bad wk or 2, he started to sleep longer a night (sleeps in until 8 instead of 7) and the we pushed back the morning nap by 30 min.
DS current schedule: wake up 8 am, nap: 11:30-2ish, bedtime: 8:30. Sometimes he gets a little cranky in the evenings but then the next day he will take a 3 hr nap.
Gianna still does this sometimes. Here's what we are trying to do...
Keep her busy (she gets super cranky when she's tired but usually I can get her to stay up a bit longer) until about 11am. She eats lunch and then goes down for a nap. The first couple days it was only an 1hr, but it's getting better/longer.
We are also working on an earlier bedtime (used to be 8, now 7/730). Then up at 7ish.
This gives her atleast 13-14hrs of sleep.
Sometimes if she gets to bed late/up early she takes a nap within 2hrs of getting up and then she takes an afternoon nap too. She definitely fights the afternoon nap but I know if she doesn't get it, it will be a looong afternoon/evening. So I make her CIO a little bit, go in, CIO a little...ya know, you get it ;-)
Good luck, I know how hard this is!
