decorating with newspaper (ideas?)
throwing a brunch baby shower for two dear friends expecting their first. both are in the media biz and i want to work in newspaper somehow into the decorations (being brunch too we are doing breakfasty foods). my first idea was to use it as a table runner....also try to make paper flowers out of them.....any ideas on this?
i will use it as backing for "congrats" and "welcome baby" signs i will make.

Honestly, I think it's kind of a stupid theme for a random baby boy birthday but it would be terrific and meaningful for the baby shower you're planning!

i would stay away from "real" newspapers...the ink will creat a huge mess....
Harsh on what? The person who threw an elaborate vintage newspaper theme for a baby boy's birthday for no apparent reason other than to photograph it for a blog? (see link) THAT'S what is stupid. I've seen way too many random kid party themes lately to think that those theme are done for the kids and not for the mother to show off her cash and the party planner to show off her creativity on a blog.
The OP's idea is NOT random. I think it's a great one and would be really fitting for the parents-to-be. I thought I conveyed that when I said that for HER party the theme would be "terrific and meaningful"...
So your comment means one of two things: 1) you think I'm being harsh to a silly blogger/rich mom/party planner/photographer who picked random theme that has nothing to do with the kid or 2) you not finish reading my post before you snipped at me.

yikes! ladies ladies - i just mentioned last week how super awesomely fantastic this particular board is because we don't have the cattiness that other (ahem*getting pregnant) has! it's just a fun get-along board!

Could make a wreath of newspaper like this one (it's from book pages, but you get the feel)

You could make a fun "faux" newspaper front page with different fonts / headlines about the couple - use these as placemats or something like that (?)
