And don't say the Notebook. I know, it's a great movie, but I want some suggestions for something a little out of the ordinary.
"Stand by me" just came on my pandora station and it made me think of a romantic scene/movie but I can't think of what it is!
Re: Favorite romantic movie?
Pride and Prejudice, the BBC miniseries version. I may be biased since I just re-watched this weekend, but OMG, it's perfect.
"In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you"
SWOON. And Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Be still my heart.
Also, I found a bracelet at Collected Thread this weekend that has this line and then the subsequent page or two printed on it. I'm in love with it.
Bridget Jones' Diary is the reason I even read Pride and Prejudice in the first place! It's another great one. The sequel sucks (as a movie, the book isn't as awful).
And do you mean the original Fever Pitch? With Colin Firth? I'm seeing a pattern here. Back off my man!
A Walk to Remember, Sense and Sensiblity, Moulin Rouge, Roman Holiday, and Affair to Remember. I also really like Becoming Jane and Atonement since I have a major crush on James McAvoy.
Ooooh this made me think that I really like "Must Love Dogs". I really like Diane Lane.
Actually, no, I haven't seen the original! Oddly, H and I almost watched it last Saturday night. Although the Barrymore/Fallon version was universally panned, I actually really liked it. I'll have to watch the old one, now.
Colin Firth IS swoony.

I've seen photos of this bracelet online and LOVE it, but haven't been down there to see it in person yet. How much is it so I can either go get it sometime or go cry in a corner?
Casablanca is probably one of my favorite romantic movies. So classic and amazing! Love it. Oh, and Sabrina too (the original with Audrey Hepburn). And Roman Holiday (also Audrey Hepburn). As far as more recent movies though, Down With Love, which has a vintage feel to it. Clearly you see I enjoy the old school romances.
my bookshelf!
Bloggy
Ging, it's $42.50. The BF bought it for me. I read the tag upside down and thought it said $24.50. I didn't realize it was almost double what I thought it was, or I never would have let him buy it. Didn't look at the tag until I got hom. Oh well, it's mine now.
ETA: They had I think one more of that one, and then a few others. One I looked at had an Oscar Wilde quote, and there were some others, too.
I ADORE this movie.
I love Hope Floats & Sweet Home Alabama. And 13 Going on 30.
Also, The Fountain...but the two times I've watched it have been when I've been extremely exhausted so it may not actually be as good as I remember it being.
There was also this short film that was a bonus feature on an IFM movie...I don't remember what either one of them were called, but I remember being overwhelmed by the romantic-ness of it all.
Probably most of these have already been mentioned, but PS I Love You is FANTASTIC (if you want a tear-jerker!), Love Story (old school), Sweet Home Alabama, Hope Floats, 50 First Dates (for something goofy but sweet), 13 Going on 30, With Six You Get Eggroll (SUPER old school Doris Day), Pillow Talk (Yeah, I love Doris Day movies!), and that's all I can think of at the moment.
ETA: OMG, how could I forget Officer and a Gentleman???
Missing our little turkey.
