I have to throw a dinner party (casual) next Friday for a group of about 10 ladies. They are requesting a theme. The only themes I can think of are Octoberfest -- but everyone drinks wine or Halloween -- but how do I cook a dinner based on halloween? Any other ideas? What menu would y'all serve?

What about a German theme for Octoberfest?? German food, beers and wine...?

The fall theme probably is the easiest. Many foods remind me of fall
What's depressing is the weather people think it will snow in the next two weeks, so I don't know if I can celebrate fall with snow on the ground! lol

Does it have to do with the seasons? If it does, do a goodbye summer party - all the stuff is on sale now! Or you can mix fall and winter since the weather is so sketchy... just call is "Falling into Winter" or something like that. If you want to do something for Halloween maybe make the party mascaraed themed?
What is the dinner party for? {ie book club - pick a book and do the theme based on that}.
If the ladies like wine you can do pre-dinner cocktails of different wines and cheeses.... here's a list of ones that go together: http://wine.about.com/od/servingwines/a/wineandcheese.htm
