Does your company take Columbus day as a holiday?

I was planning for a long weekend this weekend and my husband just broke the news that his company does not give Columbus day as a holiday. Ugh..so much for my spontaneous fall getaway plan.

I do, but my husband doesn't. (I work for a university, so we get most holidays off.)

nope. I haven't had Columbus Day off since high school - my college didn't have it off either.

I have it off. And H always has Mondays off... except he has to go in this Monday (nothing to do with the holiday). Boo

No. I think my current company gives us the fewest holidays of any company I've worked for.

We get two floating holidays that we can use for any government holidy or religious one. I can use it for Columbus Day if I wanted to.

DH's company does floating holidays. So other than Thanksgiving and Christmas, he can take whatever holidays he wants, or work the holiday and add the day to his vacation time.
