Daycare question - part time?

Did anyone here look into part time day care? We might need to have BabyD in daycare two days a week.

Do many places allow for this? Does anyone know what an average monthly cost would be? I'm about to start researching but it would be nice to have a bit of knowledge going in.

i don't have the info you need. but, i would like to give you my 0.02 on daycare prices....

we looked a quite a few places at different price points and it made me cringe when i thought of the amount of money we were spending. but, when i did a break down of price/divided by # of hours in care it made a lot more sense. i wouldn't expcet a great babysitter for $6/hour so i knew to not expect an amazing dc for that much either. the planner in me was able to appreciate spending money for quality care on hourly basis easier than weekly or monthly.

Everywhere is different but when I was looking, most centers by me required a minimum of 3 days.

If you have emails or phone numbers for the day cares you are looking into, just shoot them an email or give them a call and see if they have a minimum required days. You may want to look into an in-home daycare as a possible option for only 2 days a week.

3 day is usually the min.

I'm looking to go back to work part time so I was just looking up this stuff as well.

Everywhere I looked in Del Co allowed 2 days a week--centers and church based centers were my options. The going rate at the time (2 years ago) was about $50-60/day for part time infants so about $100-125 a week for 2 days a week.

Most centers around me do offer part-time. My center actually goes by hours so part-time is considered 25 hours which can be divided up into 3-5 days a week. They also have individual day prices which are pricey but allow for a child to have daycare one or two days a week.

JD was in daycare three full days a week, it was $140, obviously it will be more with an infant though

just another thought--maybe check out a nanny share or check local colleges for early education students who might be looking for a nanny type gig for more reasonable pay than a typical nanny (if youre comfortable with that). with daycare needed only 2 days a week you might find better options through a non-center arrangement. a previous coworker of mine found a nanny share posted at her local train station, the kids got along well, the parents had similar parenting styles and expectations of the nanny and sharing arrangement so it worked really well for her part time needs.

I'm going back to work and am putting B in daycare. Chesterbrook Academy offers part time twice a week, it's about the same price as three times a week. Two of the Malvern schools near us also offer twice a week if they have any part time availability.
