Best time (of the year) to have a kid?
The three, maybe four?, new nestlings that have been born this week have me wondering if there is a "best time of the year" to pop out a kid. I kinda always thought it would be Spring, you know, when it seems like all animals a reproducing, but maybe it would be better to be hibernating in the winter with a newborn or to have one in the Fall when you don't have to worry about there being a blizzard that might prevent your from getting to the hospital...is there any good reason to be 9 months pregnant in July or August? That just seems miserable to me.
Re: Best time (of the year) to have a kid?
We really wanted a May baby and thankfully everything worked out that way. I didn't want to have a January baby (no offense, Lachute!!!!!) simply because I was a January baby and my mom always told me growing up that everyone was sick with winter colds and it was so stinkin' cold/snowy/icy out so she was pretty much stuck inside with me for a few months. I hate winter as it is so the thought of being stuck inside with a newborn and not being able to take it outside for walks without it having to be all bundled up didn't appeal to me. I really liked having her in May and it worked great being off on maternity leave for the entire summer. I didn't want to be on maternity leave in the winter... but that's just me. Some people love winter. I despise it.
I lust after late spring and late summer babies because to me that would be ideal. I did not like having a November baby. The worst part was that just when I was feeling up to facing the world after her birth the christmas shopping crowds and accompanying germs were out in full force which deterred me from going out much and I ended up scaling the walls of my house for the bulk of my maternity leave.
Im typically more interested in matching compatible zodiac signs rather than the calendar though. Im not usually into astrology but DH and I completely fit our signs so I figure it cant hurt to aim for a baby that supposedly would be a harmonious personality just in case there's some truth to it.
I was born in January and I never liked having a birthday in the cold and right after Christmas. Ideally, I would love to have a kid between April and September for purely selfish reasons. But, deep down, I know it will happen when it happens.

This is me. I am a December baby and the one thing I didn't want was a baby born in December mainly because of the holidays but also because of my birthday and Mr.D's birthday is November 30th so it feels like everything is crammed in at the end of the year. Well, you can obviously see when I am having this baby. However, being a December baby, I know how important it is not to let the kid's birthday get lost in the holiday shuffle.
For #2, I'd love to get KU around Aug/Sept so I can have a late spring/early summer baby to bypass both the summer and the holidays.

i had the little man on april 30th (a month early) and i would have loved if he had waited a few more weeks. i was hoping for may to sept out of work to enjoy the nice weather and the summer. i definitely liked having a late spring baby.
no one has mentioned it but maternity clothes seemed super easy in the winter too..... lots of cute sweaters and sweater dresses with boots.
Ava was due in June but ended up being July 1 which I have still yet to get over. Anyways, I liked having her in the summer. Our walks were my savor from going crazy and don't know how well I would have done if I was stuck in a house all day. We were able to go down the shore most of the summer and I wasn't super pregnant in hot months.
Also, I had a 6 month maternity leave, so I was off from June 30 until Jan. 3, through the holidays, it worked out perfectly.
