What's the going rate for a Nanny these days?
or more of like a HS or College aged person who can drive and would take care of school aged kiddos during the summer. What would you pay them a week? 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. You'd add them on to your memberships (zoo, gym, pool) etc so they could take the kiddos those places. No additional $ for food/gas etc, each week, but probably as needed I guess?? So it all needs to be included in that weekly amt...
Re: What's the going rate for a Nanny these days?
I agree...not a bad price since I know our DC full time was $360 for 2 kids...
The only thing I would say is if you aren't giving a gas/food stipend/week and you expect the nanny to drive your kids in her vehicle, you may want to up it a bit. If she is transporting kids to and from activities regularly, as well as taking them places like the zoo, I think that it would be reasonable to give her an apx. mileage/week reimbursement (if your activities equal 100 miles/week, reimburse at going rate-$0.40/mile??? I can't remember right now..) $400/week is pretty good, but if you have to shell out $20-$40/week for gas, plus if they claim it on taxes, it will come down quickly.
If you can find a mom with a child to bring with you can possibly get it lower, but both pp are right on.
I babysit for one of my cousin's frequently and she gives me $10/hr for 2 young kids. I don't ask for money so I assume that is the going rate.
If it were me, I would track my gas and food and then just ask to be reimbursed.
