my baby name plan for MIL
I'm going to make a list of all my tough to pronounce baby names and use it as a bookmark in the book I'll have with me all weekend. Then I'll leave it sitting around frequently, or when I'm reading, take it out of the book and set it on the table. Then we will see what she says!
We are using the name Jacoby for a boy, and DH mentioned this name to her years ago and she couldn't say it then. I'm going to laugh when she realizes that's our actual choice (I won't have it on the fake list). It is NOT hard to pronounce!

Haha, have fun!
P.S. I love the name Jacoby!

Great plan.
Too funny! I love to mess with my MIL like this. Why can't she pronounce Jacoby? I could understand maybe the first time not being sure, but it is not like it is a tongue twister or an odd name.
Side story--- my paternal grandmother was 100% Japanese. She was never able to pronounce my name. Some of my fondest memories of her are her yelling "Roar-en!" down the street. She was a great sport though and realized that she couldn't pronounce our names correct and would make jokes about it. She would rattle off her grandkids "Ahhh-ren" (Aaron), "Bah-rye-en" (Brian), "Coh-ban" (Corbin) and the funniest was "Joe-dehhhhhhhhhn" (Jordan). She couldn't even pronounce one of her own kid's name, so she nicknamed him Cookie.

No worries. We'll tell her it was a joke at the end of the weekend. The list has some really atrocious names, so I'll be surprised if she believes us anyway. And she's got a good sense of humor.
This. I don't think I had ever heard the name Jacoby until Ellsbury started playing for the Sox, but I'm pretty sure I still would've pronounced it correctly. I love the name!
