morning, girls.
its rainy and dreary here. it was so dark this morning. G and i wanted to sleep and sleep and sleep...
tweaked my hip a bit last night during my run so i really need to stretch it out this week. one more run and a hike until the race, can't be damaged goods before i even start!
busy at work today, and because it is cold and rainy i am making chili for dinner. i wanted to make cornbread as well, but, WW forbids it
i am also making a quiche for a work potluck tomorrow morning.
really exciting life, right?
hope are you all well on your second day of the work week (womp womp)!
Re: rainy tuesday
Morning!! Rainy here too - blah.
Shauni - I desire to makes lots of money and hire you to cook for me forever. Is that ok?
On a side note, I don't want to go to classes anymore, the schedule is driving me crazy (although it's only 3 days, I really shouldn't complain). BUT - I interviewed at a company I really really want to work for post graduation and they called to set up a second interview!! SSOOOOOO EXCITED!!
Also bar results for RI come out on Oct. 28th.... fingers are crossed...
I took the best nap after work yesterday on the couch with Greg it was great. I was so tired with my lack of sleep the night before.
We watch about 20 things at once last night. We flipped between the Ray/Rangers game(Even thought I like the Rays when they are not playing the Sox I was glad they lost. I am still bitter about my Sox and Rays "Fans" bother me so I hope they loss.) We watch MNF it was awesome we live close enough to the stadium to here the cannons go off before they go off on the TV. We also watched out Monday night American Pickers and Pawn Stars. I was very glad that the Yankees lost. I really would like to see 2 team in the WS that aren't "suppose" to be there. Like last years Ranger/Gaints.
Morning all!
Angie- Fingers crossed!
Shauni- Take it easy with your hip! Gotta be ready for the big race. :-)
It's looking gorgeous here today. It was freezing last week, and this week it's supposed to be in the 70's almost 80's this week. Seriously mother nature?!?! Make up your mind!
We start our birthing class tonight. I'm kinda nervous about it. Not sure why. I'm also nervous about staying awake! It goes until 9, which normally isn't late at all, but lately I'm passed out between 8:30-9pm. Should be interesting.
I need to go grocery shopping in a bad way, but no money until payday on thursday. Means, I have to get creative this the next couple days for lunches for me and J.
More rumors are spreading about our wonderful governor. There is supposed to be a compensation plan released by the end of the month. Rumor now, is that he's going to be taking away some of our sick time AND vacation time. The rumored total won't cover my maternity leave (well, we don't get maternity leave, so i have to use sick and vacation time) which has me freaked out a bit. Stupid politics.
Angie - fingers crossed.
Mary - WTF is wrong with America? We work more and play less than most countries as it is, and as a result our families, children, mental and physical health all suffer. Then they want to take time away? That makes no sense.
Word to your mother.
I am sofacking tired. Really.
Last night I came home, ate, ran to Target for Halloween lights (orange and purple), then went to my brother's soccer game (he is a senior in HS). He scored two goals. Huzzah. It's always weird yet familiar to be back at my alma mater, from which I graduated 16 years ago.
I got home around 9:30. I cut up and sauteed veggies and made chicken chili in the crockpot. I also decorated inside for Halloween, put some stuff away, packed lunch and my gym bag, and cleaned the kitchen like a mad woman. I was in bed at 12 and asleep around 12:45. zzzzzzzz.
I totally forgot that I am going to be without a car for five effing days. My car was supposed to go in tomorrow to finally get the stupid door fixed. They won't give me a loaner since it's the body shop and not regular service at the dealership, and I'm not paying $30 a day for a car when I take a train to and from work. So I said F U, you will take it Monday and be done Friday. No way am I being without a car Saturday and Sunday when they are not open.
Can't decide if I want to do errands tonight or Thursday night. I think Thursday. I forgot one of my BBB coupons.
amen! We're only allowed to carry over 40 hours vacation from 2011, to 2012, unless you get special permission from your supervisor. I got mine to give me an extra 40, so I'm carrying over 80 hours vacation. All sick time carries over. With all the appointments that go along with being pregnant, I've been meticulous about planning my time off and calculating sick time/vacation time. So once all is said and done, I have 8 weeks total that I will take for leave. (was only going to do 6, but our daycare provider doesn't take babies till 8 weeks. This also provides the extra 2 weeks if I end up having a c-section) After those 8 weeks are gone, I will have only sick time left which is earned each month, not given in an upfront total. So I've already told J, that if push comes to shove, we'll have to take turns taking off if baby needs it, and there will be no vacations next year. (meaning, no days off unless medically needed). It's crazy.
Saw on FB how he made the reporter wait while he came and thanked you for coming. How freaking sweet is he?!?!
I think the reporter should note that in her article "Said soccer player, is also extremely sweet and gentleman like. Other teenage boys take note." :-)
Angie, keep us posted on everything--the interview and the bar results!
Mary, you also keep us posted on maternity leave...so fvcked.
Blog
My youngest brother is smart and a very talented soccer player, but what I am most proud of is that he is truly a kind person, and doesn't try to hide it. It's sort of rare in a 17 year old.
Mary - your time off deal is insane. I don't like it. I also think moms should have 6 month maternity leave like our neighbors to the north.
Mary that does suck. Be thankful you can carry over some vacation. We don't get paid maternity leave. We can carry over sick but not vacation. I have to use all my vacation by Nov 20th, I still have about 40+ hours to use before then I have been using it for dr appointments so I can save my sick time since that does carry over. So when i go on leave I will have not accured anything in vacation. I will be able to go into the negative with my vacation 1 week, I will maybe a litle over 3 weeks of sick times saved up. So I will be able to get paid for about 4 weeks of my 6-8 weeks I plan on taking off.
Steph- I agree, I wish we had mat leave like our neighbors to the North.
My cousin just got married in August. His wife, is originally from Canada but came her to do her grad work, etc. (She's a pshycologist or something along those lines). After she finished all her stuff she needed to do, they moved back up to Canada, if for nothing else, for the purpose of the healthcare and benefits to be lined up when they have their kids. This was EXTREMELY hard for my cousin. But after hearing all the benefits, he wholeheartedly agreed. They are thinking they'll move back to the states once they are done having their kids (god willing). It's so crazy how we can be neighbors with canada but it's like 2 different worlds (for more reasons than just healthcare too).
Hey ladies. I am actually feeling pretty good today. Have a small headache, but there is no work on the schedule, and I will be attacking my house (and possibly some crafts) like a crazy person. Our weather is also better this week. We were freezing and rainy last week... this week is pushing towards 80s again this weekend. Amazing. Slept in a little this morning, so I didn't have to DRAG myself out of bed before it's even light out.
Had to ask H to get our dog crate back from our friend. Came home to a couch pillow with a corner chewed out yesterday, so now, Piper has lost her priveledge of having free reign of the house while we are gone. Grrr. She apparently is having issues with me going back to work on a mostly regular basis. So annoying.
Healthcare issues always confuse me... if another country has it worked out, WHY don't we just copy what they're doing? Wouldn't that make more sense? Why reinvent the wheel?
I asked about short term disability with my current company since I was told that was maternity leave for most people. Well, I learned quickly that it's not. They don't have anything but they'll "work with you". Whatever that means. So basically I have to plan to get KU now in order to have baby during summer or wait another year.
I've had a super busy morning. I got to work earlier than normal this morning, which isn't that much earlier but at least I was able to do a few things before my first group. I was suppose to have a meeting at 9 but find out at 8:30 (when I track down the teacher) that it's been moved to 1:00. Uh thanks for the head's up lady. But at least I wasn't the only one she didn't tell. She didn't tell the lady above me either and that lady was PO'd bc she had changed her whole morning around this stupid meeting.
So J got a PT job yesterday. He's in training from 8-5 today but he's not getting paid for that. I thought that was a little odd but he said he wasn't worried so whatever. And he was flipping out last night about taking all these days off so we got into last night because he doesn't know if he's working weekends, week, nights, days or what yet. This weekend is just a trial period or something so I told him to ask the boss this morning.
HUGE pet peeve of mine. Common curtesy is make sure you communicate things like this!!! My boss tends to run late to meetings, but there are some times where he'll stroll in up to 30 minutes late!! It drives me crazy! If you're going to be late, at least call and tell people! Or if you're changing the mtg. time all together, defenitly make sure you tell people!
I deserve the eagle of failure award (I think that is what it is called) for the following reasons:
- I was in bed, not wanting to get up. I pick up my phone to check the time and it slipped out of my hands and hit me in the face. Ouch!
- I went to McDonalds to get coffee. So tempted to get a Bacon, Egg and Cheese biscuit but I controlled my urge. I get to the window to pay. Take my debit card out of my wallet. Go to hand the card to the cashier and it flung out of my hand onto the ground. I had to put the car in park. Open the door about 1 foot to avoid hitting the side of the building. Squeeze my fat ars out of the car. Bend over to pick up the Card. Hand the card to the cashier. Then squeeze my fat ars back in the car.
Yup, so far off to a great morning and it's only 8:25 am
Shauni- Chili and cornbread sound so good, may have to steal that idea for dinner tonight.
Angie- You rock! I have total faith that you passed the bar. GL on the second interview.
Moleson- PB&J samiches. That is what I had for lunch all of last week, and that is what I am going to have for lunch on Thurs and Fri.
Em- Congrats to J on his new job. That's a little strange about not getting paid for training, but I'm sure everything will work out fine.
Steph- Reading about your younger brother got me teary eyed.
This made me laugh out loud b/c I've done this before too!
ZOMG we are definitely having chili and cornbread as soon as possible (even though we had it last week...), I have a huge craving now.
I feel very burnt out and blah today. I think I'm coming down with something; this morning I was super stuffed up but it's cleared up now. For the past few days I've had weird appetite issues, where I can't finish my breakfast and sometimes my lunch, and I'm not even hungry for snacks throughout the day (unusual for me). I'm fine after work, I eat a snack and then my full dinner (ok, sometimes I do get full halfway through). But I know it's not as much food as usual. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that I'm probably being a little healthier and not overeating, since usually my issue is curbing my appetite, but it worries me that this came out of nowhere, plus I know the lack of food makes me even more tired and dizzy than usual.
Yay, Tuesday! It's funny, but now that I have a set time (with H and my work, have to confirm with doctor tomorrow) to leave work, work doesn't seem so hard. My back's been feeling better the past few days, etc. Ah, well.
I'm so overwhelmed with trying to make baby decisions that I've been delegating some things to H. I gave him 3 options on the monitor and asked him to choose. Then he's like, oh, I'll order us a diaper bag. Um, no way, jose, I want to be involved in that decision! I already picked one that is only slightly different from the one we registered for TOGETHER, but my friend had one and hated it, so I changed it.
We had our last birth class last night, and did a battle of the sexes at the end. The ladies won because the guys couldn't remember a third type of pain meds (they said local anesthesia, it was another 'a' - analgesics). H felt bad because it was his question, but the other guys were allowed to give input and nobody else knew either. He'd probably feel even worse if I told him that I was the only one of the ladies who knew the answer, so I'm keeping that part to myself.
I take my pain relief options very seriously.
Mary - that is serious bull, that you can only carry over 40 hours of vacation. How much do you get each year? I work in government as well, and our county's allowances are pretty generous. We can carry 400 hours of vacation until we start having to use it or lose it. And they don't do any short term disability?
Shauni and Steph - yum, I want chili now! I've been thinking of trying a chicken chili recipe, since H doesn't like traditional chili. I told H I'm going to cook my way through LTB's crockpot meals document while I'm on leave, to try to find good easy meals we can make after BD gets here.
And yay yay yay, Apple is announcing their new iPhone in t-minus 50 minutes, just for my birthday! lol.
Good morning - working from home today and it started raining yesterday with more on the way. Last night after making dinner, went over to IL's house to help MIL navigate FB. While I was gone, DH did the dishes (he put them in the dishwasher when I didn't ask), hollah! Hoping to get out on a walk with the dog in between the rain, and I think I'll make some lasagna for dinner (although my side will have little cheese in it).
Oh, follow up to my novel yesterday about the anonymous neighbor, got home yesterday and the one neighbor (who I thought sent the letter) had 3 little stakes on his lawn pointing to the brown spots (which our dog didn't cause) and has a sign that says "NO DOGS". I will still write a letter telling him our dog did not do that and we'll make sure she doesn't stop there, but one of my friends said I should find a fake turd and put that on the grass, LOL. I'm just peeved that he decides to blame us for something we didn't do...a$$hat. At least our good neighbors next door have told us that they have maybe exchanged a few "hello's" to them a handful of times.
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Leo, what an a-hole! Honestly, I have never heard of people trying to say that no dogs can even PEE on their lawn. Yes, dog owners should pick up poop, but to say they should prevent their dog from peeing on others' lawns is really crazy.
How are things going with you? Are you still going to have an IUI in October? I don't want to intrude or ask too many questions, just wanted to let you know I'm here if you want to talk about it, and am wishing you guys luck.
I'm planning on using overtime to cover for my maternity leave. Anything we work over 45 hours we get to "bank" and either use as vacation or get a check. So I plan on working 50 to 55 hours a week and by the time the baby pops out I should have 4 - 5 weeks of my time paid for by overtime. The remaining 1 - 2 weeks, I'll use sick time. I already have 62 hours saved up so I should be fine over the course of my pregnancy. I'll be able to schedule most of my appts early in the AM, so I'll be able to get in at 9AM on those days.
In other news, I finally told BFF/MOH and she was very excited! H and I are supposed to go to their new apartment. Her boyf cancelled our plans with them because his mother broke her ankle . . . I really don't get that, but whatever. I'm looking forward to napping this evening instead of playing mario kart or whatever.
Anyway, back to work.
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
Ditto all this cuz I'm lazy.
Weekend was good, was up in Estes Park for Elkfest and went to RMNP. Nice alone time w/ DH. Can't get motivated to work now. Taking next week off to do absolutely nothing! Maybe scrapbook, read lots, sleep lots, etc. So excited.
Mush-did you see they only announced the iPhone 4S?!?!? Crazy! All that hype for a 5 and no dice...
I'll have to check it out. DH and I bought our 4 right before our trip last month because we couldn't wait any longer for the 5. So far I LOVE my phone. Now I understand why iphone users love it.
