Feel free to jump in even if you haven't yet this year!

How's everything coming along, ladies?

ETA: Fixed because I am an idiot who does not know how many quarters are in a year.

Re: 2011 Goals - 3/4 Update

  • 1. Get our money more organized- this is partially done. Money is more organized but we still need to make a lot of decisions and organize our save v. spend better.  2. Go the dentist/doctor for a check up for the first time in forever :P- erm, no. REALLY gotta get on that.  3. Continue losing weight, get back on track! - Nope, have not been good about this at all. We are now eating at home and cooking at home a lot more, which helps (way too much ordering in and going out before). But I still need to think about portion control and get back to a good weight.  4. Get a job that I can see myself staying at for at least a few years, and comes with health insurance!  - this is the one I'm happiest about! Job I can see myself staying in and health insurance, check! The job is only for a year, but there is a really good possibility I will be able to stay longer. Fingers crossed!

  • hah, I had totally forgotten about this!

    1. Get into the Masters in Secondary Ed.

I got in, but I ended up making the decision to take a "super-job" over the masters. I may have royally screwed up, seeing as they are offering teaching tests in my region this year - I didn't think they were going to. Oh well. We'll see.

    2. Survive the planning and days of both weddings.

First hurdle passed, it went smoothly! Wedding 2.0 is in 10 days. I'm working - hard - and haven't been able to dedicate the time I'd like to the planning process. I'm going to the bride with the biggest, darkest, under eye bags ever!  Gosh, I'm tired.

    3. Survive moving into the new house.

    Done. Phew!

    4. Make, and stick to, a budget.

We haven't formally budgeted, but we're doing just fine.

    5. Lose the weight I've gained since coming to Spain.

I'm losing weight, but I'm not even close to what I was when I landed.

    6. Try to not take criticism so personally.

     Nope, still suck at this!

  • In no particular order:

    1) stick to the budget - so far so good!

    2) fully fund the "vacation/sick salary" fund - "Vacation" is fully funded, an e-fund has been started

    3) get Permanent Residency Visa approved (I should be able to maintain a viable marriage until December...RIGHT!) - Just got off the phone with the atty.  The paperwork is in motion!

    4) FIND my stomach muscles - uhm ...

    5) find a full time job that has a salary AND paid time off - Well it's permanent part time, with full time benefits and a contracted 40 hours a week, so close enough for me.  Plus at this company, Full time means you don't get paid for any extra hours over 40.  Now, to find a job I like.

    6) Pay off the CCs - Done

    7) re-finance the house to a lower interest rate - Done.  Managed to re-fi at a low enough rate, that we took out enough $ to re-do the kitchen and still have a lower payment then we had before.

  • My goals:

    1. Get into shape (going to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2012) - No Kilimanjaro next year due to knee issues.  Can now consistenly run a 5k 3 times a week!  Still a work in progress, but want to start lifting weights for upper body strength.  Have also taken up rock climbing.

    2. Travel more - We've been going on one trip a month (usually just weekend trips) for nearly every month this year.

    3. Get hired on full time at work. - Yeah, not going to happen. Pretty much told this by my boss awhile back. I'm ok with it.  I'm now moving on to figuring out what I want to do with my life.

  • 1. Make the most of life without kids: have more fun/socialize more with people at work/make new friends/go on more trips. Definitely enjoying this part a lot, the work friends are becoming just friends, we go out more regularly and try to have as many trips as we can afford.

    2. Lose weight & keep it off/get fit Still ongoing. Problem is I'm the laziest person I know... I have improved my fitness levels a lot though so that's a plus.

    3. Get ready for TTC both with item 2 + quit smoking & most importantly, get ready in my head! Head still not ready. I probably said that before, but I really wish I was 2-3 years younger - it would help me justify the delays...
