After
a harrowing week
Owen Charles was born by cesarean at 10:33pm on September 28th at
33w5d. He was 17.75 inches and 5lbs 4oz.
He's off the nasal
canula (he was only on it for maybe 10 hrs) and doing well. He's having
trouble staying awake to eat, and occasionally remembering to breather
while eating, but he is eating. So far he's only had breast milk!
They've talked about formula, but I wanted to stick w/BM if at all
possible. Right now he's eating 10ml every 3 hours. I'm trying to
nurse (weighing him before and after) and then he's getting the rest of
the BM by bottle. So far, I'm keeping up well, but I'm worried about
when they discharge me tomorrow and he's still here for at least a few
more days.

Re: XP: Meet Owen!
Congratulations again! He is gorgeous.
Good job on the BFing!!! It's hard work, but it will get better! I'm sure you already know this but yeast, protein and lots of water will really help your supply! Also Mother's Milk tea has been helpful for me.
My Profile
what a doll! congrats to you and your H!
i'm sorry that you went through a rough time...i'm assuming you weren't planning on having him early. it's get better...trust me. Bennett was born at 34w and he was 5lb6oz...he was in the NICU for 12 days and it is hard to leave them at the hospital...but you can visit and it's the best place for him. bennett was a sloppy/lazy eater and had issues keeping his body temp up high enough...so that was a mild setback at one point. hang in there and love the heck out of him!
Aww congratuations...he's adorable.
That is fantastic your milk has already come in (that truly is the best thing for him right now with being premature). I second what Madame has said...Fenurgreek and Blessed Thistle helped and so did lacation cookies...(that helped the best) you'll just have to be deligent in pumping but it's doable. If you want the recipe let me know best of luck
He's adorable!! Hope things continue to go well for you and baby Owen.
Love the name!!!
