So I realized I may be guilty of this:
FFFC #2: I give the side eye to women who say they don't know how to cook.
It's not that I don't know how to cook (well most of the time) but I suck at it. After reading that I immediately felt guilty.
Last week I was working crazy odd hours and knew I wasn't going to have much time to sleep, let alone cook, so I used all "weekend" to make freezer meals. I'm so proud of myself. DH and I had home cooked meals all week long, except for OU game day. Thanks for giving me motivation to get it done!
The reason I say I don't know how to cook is because of things like this: One of the meals was crab cakes and called for one chopped jalapeno. So I chopped up the whole darn thing (minus the stem) and threw it in with everything else. I didn't know you were supposed to take out the insides and seeds! When I tasted them I immediately knew something was wrong and Dh had to explain my mistake to me. Oh well, live and learn!
Re: AW: Thanks for the kick in the pants ;)
WTG! If it makes you feel better, I also say I can't cook. I can follow a recipe, but I can't just come up with stuff out of nothing. I need a recipe!
Lol, I haven't made ANYTHING under the food section. We've been trying to stick to primal/paleo foods. Those are just the bad foods I really want to scarf down right now!
I need a recipe also! I can usually follow that until it says things like "one chopped jalapeno" lol
I think I need a "Cooking for Dummies" book!
I would have done the same thing!

Since you said thanks--you're welcomeI follow recipes and can't come up with stuff out of thin air - its about cooking, not being a CHEF.
Anyway, buttercup, I am really excited for you. We tend to be better about freezer meals in the fall/winter than the summer - when working long hours it makes the weeks SO MUCH better!

. Home cooked meals all week?? That's awesome! And you're right, you live and learn! The only way to get more comfortable with and better at cooking is by doing it! So tell us more, what meals did you make?? I've done some freezer meals but I'd love some new ideas
.
Salmon and Asaparagus
Steak and Zucchini
Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry
Tortilla Soup
Spaghetti Squash and Meatballs
Sausage with Mashed Cauliflower (instead of potatoes)
Chopped BBQ Chicken and coleslaw
Protein Balls for snacks
Quiche (breakfast)
Coconut Chicken Tenders
Crab Cakes (they went into the trash)
Salads and Leftovers for Lunches
I always thought that freezer meals had to be casserole type dishes but I realized you can pretty much freeze anything. The steak wasn't as great as straight off the grill but it was still really good!

Impressive!
