Does anyone have the link to the KC directions?

I know this was posted a while back, but I need detour directions to KC.  TIA!

Re: Does anyone have the link to the KC directions?

  • Can't find a post, but we took 75 all the way through Topeka and then onto I-70 there into KC last time we went down.

For my sisters wedding, we took 75 to Hiawatha, KS then got on 59 (?) there and took that all the way to I-229 that hooks up to I-29 at St Joe.

Still think 75 is the fastest route, especially if there is still construction on 59 and depending on the time of day.

Haven't taken any of the Iowa routes that take you through to Rockport then back on to 29.

  • When are you going? They are supposed to have I-29 south open sometime this week/weekend. WOOT!
  • Next weekend- that would be awesome if it was open!
  • The pilots told me I-29 would be open by the third week in October, so we should be good to go for our KC trip.  I'm going before then though, and if it's closed, they recommended going to Clarinda & Vilisca, IA as a detour route.

This would be Hwy 34 to Hwy 71....south to MO. It is a LONG ways out of the way, but it is decent roads. The Interstate is closed in 100% of Fremont County and the only reason that it isn't open in Mills County is because there is no place to route traffic. The Fremont County Emergency Manager released a statement to the press today that it would be open by this weekend (we will see if that actually happens or not), but the exit at Bartlet and at Nebraska City (Hwy 2) will not be open for quite some time. Bartlet is still under water and Hwy 2 has extensive damage & they don't know when it will be open to cross the river into Neb. City.
