My a/s is on Friday morning, and I have blocked off the whole morning, but have clients scheduled for the afternoon. DH and I are both contemplating taking the whole day off. I feel really conflicted b/c I have a hard time cancelling/rescheduling my clients for non-emergency reasons (or preplanned vacation) since there are only two clinicians in our office right now. But on the other hand, I'm not sure how *present* I will really be for them anyway - ya know, either super excited about gender or nervous about learning about some possible defect. So WWYD?

Can someone take over your clients? If something negative is revealed, you can probably call in that you're not up to coming in and hopefully people would understand.
If you decide to go in and reschedule your clients, do you have other work to do to take up your afternoon?
since it's just my boss and me right now he really can't see my clients unless it's an emergency. They are all stable/okay as far as I know. If I reschedule them, I'd most likely be hitting up some baby stores, but yes there is ~always~ enough paperwork (I have 158 clients) to do.
I love my job, but I hate feeling so obligated towards it sometimes...
I definitely know the feeling.
I would reschedule and take the day. It sounds like you will want the time to "decompress" either way.
