Ouch

Moms....did you have a lot of pain & pressure in your hips at the end of your pregnancy? I guess it's normal, but geez. It's pretty constant no matter what I do or how I'm sitting/standing.

And, when I lay down at night, it feels like my lower back is going to split in half.

Oh the joys!

Can anyone commiserate with me?!

Re: Ouch

  • I felt that way towards the end also and ended up buys a lower lumbar pillow to sit with so that I could feel somewhat comfortable.

GAH! Lol...I'm kinda ready...I guess! Although, I just had an appointment yesterday and not much activity down there. My midwife said I'm about 1cm. She also told me to go ahead and start taking EPO and drinking raspberry leaf tea....maybe it's already working!

  • Yes ma'am! It suuuucks. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh wow! Did you feel like you had dilated over those few days or were you totally surprised?

I feel like I'm not going to make it to 40 weeks based on the way I've been feeling lately. Who knows though...I'd just be very surprised if I make it to 40.

I didn't know I had dilated but i did have a lot of lower back pain and swelling. Everyone kept telling me I wasn't going to make it to 40 weeks and they were right.

  • I'm feeling pressure every so often too. My hips and legs hurt when I start walking anywhere, I'm hoping all the walking I've been doing will progress things a little sooner than if I had been sitting all summer. I have the Boppy body pillow and it really helps my hips while I'm sleeping. 1cm down, only 9 to go Rach! Lol.
  • I have horrible hip pain now and I still have 10 weeks left :(

I just make the 38 week club! Stick out tongue Evie was born exactly 38 weeks.

The end is near, Rach.... but you never know, you could make it all the way to 40... and dare I say it, beyond 40! [:x] Just use as many pillows as possible to get yourself comfy in bed, that's all I could do to even get a little comfy at night. Our bed looked like a fort. LOL

Have you guys picked a name yet?  Or are you waiting to meet her?

  • Thanks for the input!

Looks like 38 weeks is a big Niner trend:)

Nat, we haven't picked a name yet...we want to meet her first, but we're pretty confident in our top choice, just a little unsure about the MN. :)

Yay!  Can't wait to "meet" her... and I'm very excited to learn her name.

I'm assuming the nursery and everything is ready to go?

I remember after we had our shower and we got the last couple things, we felt "ready" for Evie to arrive because we had "everything".  That first week she was home we still had to go out and get stuff. Goes to show you, you can never be ready enough LOL

Well, the nursery is almost ready...besides the glider which is supposed to be delivered this Friday. It was on back order until November, but luckily they called us and said it was ready for delivery this week instead. Thank GOD! That will be the last thing we need in the nursery...other than that, it's done! I'm going to put pictures of it on the blog hopefully by next Tuesday:)

  • Oh man, I had so many aches and pains at the end, I couldn't even begin to list them lol.

I am surprised that so many of the niner gals went early.  They say that most 1st time moms go past 40 weeks.  I was 37 weeks, but don't really count because I didn't go into labor naturally (was induced).  I was only 1 cm at that point.

  • Aw, Rach, the achiness and pains will be over soon and you'll be holding your beautiful little girl in your arms!  However, that baby may surprise you and you may go beyond 40 weeks like Nat suggested. :)   I could barely walk a mile in a half hour in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy; I was moving that slowly because if I went any faster, I thought the baby might fall out! I had tons of pressure from week 32 onward, and a super short cervix.  With all that going on, I never dreamed I'd make it past 40 weeks, but I did!  And in the end, I was glad I made it that far, since it was the best thing for Kyler.

Anyway, hang in there!  That baby will come out when she's ready. :)

  • 38 weeks seems to be the magic number... not just with the niners, but with my IRL friends as well!! In the past couple of years I've had 4 friends deliver by 38 weeks, the most recent was last week!! And my SIL is having a scheduled C-Section at 38w3d in 2 weeks...

That makes me even more nervous than I already am... Tongue Tied

  • Rach:  I can't even believe you're this far along already!?!  I'm really hoping you find relief soon and have a wonderful delivery of your little girl! :)
