  • 1) what's your favorite holiday (government, religious, hallmark, anythingyouconsideraholiday)? Thanksgiving and Black Friday

    2) when is it? 3rd Thursday in Nov and the day after

    3) what do you do to celebrate? Eat and shop

    4) is it the same way you've been celebrating since you were a child? Thanksgiving, yes, but now I include going to H's family's house. One of these years a 2 Thanksgiving Dinner Day is going to kill me, but whatevs. I've been doing the Black Friday thing pretty much for the last 14 years, just missing a few years here and there when I wasn't in town.

    5) what holiday do you wish didn't exist? The ones where we don't get a day off.
  • 1) what's your favorite holiday (government, religious, hallmark, anythingyouconsideraholiday)? Halloween!!!

    2) when is it? October 31st

    3) what do you do to celebrate? Sadly, not much other than dream about overly elaborate costumes. We never have anywhere cool to go, all I want is a big huge adult costume party (bonus if all "sexxy" versions of costumes are banned). Watch The Nightmare Before Christmas sometime in the 2 weeks leading up to it. Carve pumpkins.

    4) is it the same way you've been celebrating since you were a child? No, I used to every year tape up the same flocked cardboard cut-outs to the doors and door frames (no tape on wallpaper, mean Mom says), cobble together some costume with my mom's help, and go trick or treating. Now I put up my decorations and buy my own bag (or two) of candy and sit and pout.

    5) what holiday do you wish didn't exist? Maybe Columbus Day? I swear we got it off in school, but now it's just one of those zillion bank/post office holidays that everyone ELSE has to work. Besides, he didn't discover America.

  • 1. Halloween and Christmas 2. Oct 31 and dec 25 3. Halloween I usually put decorations around the house, and we go get pumpkins to carve. I usually try and find new recipes to try on the pumpkin seeds lol For Christmas, it's been difficult. I'm working on starting new traditions with my family I have now. Christmas eve we do chinese take out and relax around the tree watching movies. Chris morning we do presents and I'm working on a tradition type breakfast. Then that night is nice dinner with judas and we exchange gifts with him. 4. No. We used to spend the mornings with my family, then the afternoon with my moms side of the family and dinner with dh's mom and step dad. But my parents divorced my mom is less than a good person and we moved to far to make an afternoon drive to mil's house :( hence the trying to figure out new transitions lol 5. I'm not sure. I don't mind most since dh gets most of them off even the small ones which is kinda nice.

  • Memorial Day - we usually celebrate my birthday that weekend and it's the first 3 day weekend leading towards summer.

For years that was also the first camping weekend of the year and always a blast.

DH and I don't celebrate most holidays.

    1) what's your favorite holiday (government, religious, hallmark, anythingyouconsideraholiday)?  CHRISTMAS!

    2) when is it?  Um, December 25th.

    3) what do you do to celebrate? TONS!  We go to Leavenworth every year for the lights, we to "our" tree farm and cut down our tree, we, in the past, have gone to the Nutcracker, but this year are going to the Symphony.  We spend lots of time looking at Christmas decor, I bake a lot, and overall, we just REALLY get into it.

    4) is it the same way you've been celebrating since you were a child?  Um, sort of.  I've always really loved Christmas, but when I was little, we didn't do a lot.  I think it was because both of my parents worked and because we didn't have extra money.  When James and I got married, we started our own traditions and we add more every year.

    5) what holiday do you wish didn't exist?  Since it's coming up, I'm going to say Columbus Day.  I get it, but really, it's just annoying (banks, etc.).

  • 1) what's your favorite holiday (government, religious, hallmark, anythingyouconsideraholiday)?

    Saint Patrick's Day

    2) when is it?

    March 17th

    3) what do you do to celebrate?

Drink beer and wear green & orange

    4) is it the same way you've been celebrating since you were a child?

I only wore green, because I didn't know what the orange symbolized.  I also was more likely to pinch people if they didn't wear green.

    5) what holiday do you wish didn't exist?

Christmas, I'm becoming more an more resentful of having to travel in the cold/winter every other year (for DH's family) and buying gifts for grown @$$ adults who don't need/deserve them.
