Key West?

Any of you ladies been to Key West?  Recs on a hotel, anyone?

Re: Key West?

  • We honeymooned there and LOVED it!

We stayed at the Mermaid and Alligator and it was fabulous. Best B&B we've ever stayed in.

We kind of just went with the flow while down there. We rented bikes and rode around the town and just stopped at places that seemed to cool .We LOVED the off-the-beaten path bars and restaurants and loved our full-day sailing, snorkeling, and kayaking excursion.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • We went in May 2010. We flew into Miami and drove down to Key West, which was fun. I was like 5-6 months pregnant, so we couldn't do a lot of the excursion activities, but we did take a snorkeling trip that was fun. We also took a sunset cruise, which would've been a lot more enjoyable for me if I had been able to drink. I was pretty bored (it was nice, just too long).

We stayed at The Southernmost, which was a little pricey for us (we usually Priceline bid on hotels!) but we were willing to splurge a bit since it was technically our "babymoon." It was worth it; the place was really nice, and the location was great--right on the water, and right at the tip of the "main drag" so we could easily get to the restaurants, bars, etc.--but far enough away from the activity where it was really quiet and peaceful at night. It had wonderful outdoor space--hammocks that we laid in every night, a nice pool (though not huge!), docks/decks on the ocean, etc. Plus, when you stay there, you have access to the other two hotels owned by Southernmost, if you want to explore a little. Michael attended "Beer School" one evening, which was free to hotel guests. He had fun; I took a nap back at the hotel because I was jealous. :)

I have a bunch of blog posts on my blog about Key West. Scroll down past the posts about Miami (which was a huge letdown for us after Key West--I wish we would've just stayed in KW the whole time).
