recommend a quick winter getaway

We want to do a short getaway in February.  DH doesn't have much leave so we can only be gone Thursday through Monday.  I don't really care where we go, I just want to get there quick and have lots of warm sunshine.  We went to Jamaica w/ DD a few years ago and that was pretty fun and stress free, but DH got food poisoning at the resort so I'm not sure he'd go again (who eats chicken salad off a buffet in the tropics??).

Re: recommend a quick winter getaway

  • Its a short flight to the Bahamas. We did a three or four day weekend there. We stayed at Atlantis and it was way overpriced (and we didn't even pay for the room and I still think it was overpriced). There are quite a few resorts there though so I would look into others.
  • Maybe the Key's or somewhere else in FL, but not do the amusement park thing, just go to a resort?

  • I tend to like the west coast of FL particularly if you are not feeling like dealing with passports, etc. I'm talking Clearwater/St. Pete.

do you have a rec for a hotel?

I'm always a little daunted looking for vacations in Florida b/c its so overwhelming and everything is a la carte.

I don't......we have been going to Naples (a tad further south) for the past few years and I stay with family. When we did go to Clearwater last we stayed at a great place but that was pre-kid and it was a tiki-bar, bring you drinks on the beach type place (not kid friendly). Usually in these situations I just start by poring over tripadvisor reviews.
