i heard back from bella's cardiologist today. he is all for getting her spayed at virginia tech. he is worried about her continuing to go through a heat cycle and the stress it's doing to our heart. he also feels like she'll receive the best possible care there, especially since they have an anesthesiologist on hand. he said the majority of times it goes okay. so we're set for november 2nd! i just have to figure out the logistics since it's a 5 hour drive (one way) by myself with a cat. i may spend the night or i may do it in one day. either way since she's likely going to be there several days it will be two trips.
my dad... so i emailed him back and said he couldn't live here with us but i'd help him in anyway i could to find somewhere. and i never heard back. i told cole i take that as he has no use for me now. but i'm still checking my mailbox and half expecting a letter, too. oh well...
Re: follow-up on bella (my cat) and my dad
glad to hear that he thinks she'll do alright and I honestly never thought about her going into heat and how that could be hurting her. I really hope it helps!
Yah I know all to well what it's like to "not have any use for me anymore" it's a bummer but honestly you didn't need that added stress and you were willing to try and find something. Unfortunately with him being older he's set in his ways and won't see how that looks. But just know I agree with you!
Oh, well that's like a good news, bad news report. Glad your vet thinks she'll be good with the surgery. I hope she stops spraying once it's done.
As for your dad, it sucks that he didn't email you back, but I really think you made the right choice!
me too! i think we have more hope than if we don't spay her. I.E., i think some of the traditional/mainstream fixes might help after she's fixed vs. when you have unspayed cat it's just impossible.
me too :-(
Good news about Bella! Now we'll just wait and see.
And re: your dad.. I suppose that isn't a surprise. "Whatev", right?
You dad's lack of response should reaffirm your decision.
And yay for Bella! I never thought of the stress from going in heat.
she is 7.
Good luck to Bella and hope everything goes well for her. I think you did the right think with your dad.
