Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
I have never sewed anything in my life but, would like to start.
I would like to make some reusable sandwich bags, grocery bags, and eventually DD's halloween costumes.
Any suggestions on what type of machine to get and also how to get started?
Re: For those who sew
Check out the FAQ's at the top of the page. Keep in mind, to an extent you will get what you pay for. I highly recommend going to a specialty shop. If you think your budget is too low for a quality machine from a shop, check around for used machines, people will often trade in their machine for a new one, also getting it from a shop, the sales people will show you how to work it.
This exactly!
Often the specialty shops will have free or low cost instruction on how to use your machine, and the support is something that you won't get from a big box store or the internet.
