Garlic for planting?

Does anyone know where I can find garlic for planting in the garden?

Can I use the stuff that is sold in the produce section or do I need a special variety that grows in our climate?

Re: Garlic for planting?

  • I just bought 3 bulbs from Earl May. You can also get it from Seed Savers---they have tons of cool varieties to choose from.

  • Why do I always forget about Earl May? Awesome!   ...and I'll have to look into seed savers.  Thanks!

  • No need to get a special variety for your climate! You can just use a bulb from the grocery store and separate it into the individual cloves for planting. I had asked my Dad about it this past spring as he grows it and is quite the gardener!

  • Awesome! That makes it easy. No special trip necessary.  :)
