Name Dilema - Clicky

Ok, so a little back story. Our Gma's names are Teuni & Teuntje, very dutch names and there is no way that LO will get that for a name but we still want to name LO if it's a girl after them. So the best we came up with is the name in the clicky.

Now I'm doing a clicky because it's a spelling dilema.

Pronounced: Tay-lean-a - As in you say hey you.. so it could be spelled the following ways. Which one do you prefer.

My preference for the name would be to spell it either Taylina or Teylina - Lina is the same as in Kristina.

  • What about "Talina" or "Tayleena"?

1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
  • bonus points from me for going with a unique name that also has a family history :)

Ok, so the Talina, would you still pronounce it the same way? To me that seems like it would be come Tuh-lina. Just wondering..

yeah, I don't think I'd pronounce it correctly with that spelling, it would come out "tuh" or "tah"

  • I think you need Tay or Tey (Tay would be easier for Americans) to get that pronounced properly. I personally prefer the "lina" but I think either "lina" or "lena" is going to have a good percentage pronounce with a short "i" sound. Double "e" would be the most phonetic, but there's a certain point where how much do you want to play with the spelling to deal with that? Tayleena seems the most phonetic, but I don't think that spelling is very pretty. So I voted Taylina. :)

Kudos to you for thinking about the spelling/pronunciation conundrum. From one who wishes her mother had considered it more. Stick out tongue

  • I think some people would pronounce Taylina (Tay-LIN-ah).  So, I voted Taylena.  I think Tayleena would also get pronounced correctly.
