Clicky Poll: Car Seat Inspections

Re: Clicky Poll: Car Seat Inspections

  • I didn't go to a specific place, but I had my brother check it out the first time. He's a fire fighter/paramedic/father of two. So he knows what to look for.
  • My asst principal's husband is a cop and he does the car seat training for other cops. He did ours, and I haven't moved it since!
  • Ours did our whole install, not just an inspection.  For us it was our town cops.  We called around to a few surrounding towns in case anyone made appointments but ended up getting a hold of the guy in our town on day when he was on duty and we just went right over to see him.
  • I'm hoping to get it done this weekend (because I have to get my Mom's current car/the car we are getting and get it done which would be easier on a weekend), but most places are saying just M-F. I guess I'll call around tomorrow and hopefully find someone open to do it on Saturday, we also need to get the extra base installed in our car and inspected.

I'm getting nervous about getting things ready, done, etc. I was already this way, but I had an interesting MD appointment today and now I'm really anxious to get things ready.

Things are okay for now, but some tests are being run, and I'm just kind of an emotional wreck.

Hope everything is OK.  Take it easy if you can and let other people help do the running around and getting ready.  it's scary and it sucks but you only really need to have very little when they first come home so just concentrate on those things (like a car seat! :)

I tried to get our car seat inspection but it was such a PITA. I called the local police and fire departments, who directed me to the Sheriff's station, who told me the person certified was on vacation for the next week or 2. I was 36-37 weeks at that point, so I just gave up since I couldn't find anyone.

  • We just let the sheriff's department install them and show us how.  I haven't taken mine out since then, but DH has.
