tea room recommendations

My aunt is throwing a "meet the baby" tea for my sister who just had her baby on Monday (yay!). My sister lives down in my hometown now, but used to live up here in Arlington, so the tea is for friends and family up here to meet the baby. And somehow I've been tasked with picking out the venue.

Any recommendations for a place for tea that has a nice private room or at least a separate area? Arlington, Falls Church, McLean or DC are all fine.

Re: tea room recommendations

  • What about the Hillwood Museum?  I'm not sure if their space is totally separate, but I know they do private events.... I think they do teas.

    How many people?

  • There's nothing like the Mayflower for tea! I've found reserving a regular table plenty private, although they do have a separate room available.

  • They don't have space in the restaurant to host a private party, but if you decide to cater the tea, Natalia's in Falls Church has a wonderful one.  It is incredibly delicious.

I've been to the Ritz Carlton Tea in Tysons and it is very good.  A little pricey though.  I am confident the Four Seasons offers one too.

A lot of the historic houses and gardens offer teas.  Green Springs Garden in Annandale/Alexandria (it's on the border) does.  I think the Bailiwick Inn in Fairfax does as well.  I always see them advertised but my mommy brain is preventing me from remembering which ones...

  • we took my mom to tea at the Ritz on 22nd and M for her birthday and it was really nice.

  • I haven't been yet, but the girl who books event space was super reponsive to my emails at Teasim in Penn Quarter.
  • I mean Teaism in Penn Quarter.
