Anyone ever have an LCL injury?
I found out yesterday I have a slight separation of my LCL and stretched ACL. Not much they can do as surgery can't reattach a ligament to a bone. My femur and tibia aren't aligned, which isn't good, but all I can do is relax and rest it. That's easy for a doctor to say!
Anyone have any advice or success stories? Success stories? LOTS of success stories? Please? This pain is horrific and as a teacher, lots of rest isn't a real option.
Re: Anyone ever have an LCL injury?
Did they give you a brace to try to help align everything?
I injured my knees as a kid. Then I reinjured one knee playing basketball in high school. This knee has a stretched ACL. They told me if I continued to play ball, I'd probably tear it eventually. So I had to give up sports. Whenever I exercise now, I always wear a knee brace. It helps. I tried zumba once without my knee brace and I couldn't move the next day. I still have pain in my knee if I hike all day or walk around a lot or exercise a lot in one day. I only wear comfy shoes at work since I'm on my feet all day. They are not the prettiest or have big heels but at least my knee isn't killing me. I would suggest not wearing skinny heels since they always killed my knees.
Good luck - I feel your pain!
I have an immobilizer right now (upper thigh to lower calf) so I can't bend my knee. I dislocated this knee cap in HS but haven't had any major issues since.
I'm not a high heels person so that's OK! I like to wear them on occasion (nothing super extreme) but I am a flats only girl currently. In fact, I need to find some dressy black flats for a wedding in NYC this weekend!
I can't offer any advice from personal experience, but wanted to suggest an XP on the H&F board- those ladies have experience with lots of knee issues and can offer some support/advice.
I am sorry for your issue- I hope it heals quickly!
HEY! YOU HAVE A BABY!!! So cute
Congrats!
I did have an MRI and they didn't get me an exact degree but said it was pretty bad. Very weak knee and lots of, well it's hard to describe but my knee feels loose, I guess. I hurt my knee in HS playing basketball so the alignment could stem from that too as well as swelling. So all I can do is wait and relax (when possible!)
That's how I hurt my knee too! Well the second time I hurt it anyway.
Yes I do have a baby! Guess it's been a while
Yeah that loose feeling is pretty common with an ACL injury. I'm sorry that you did a number on it. Definitely inquire about physical therapy. I know you cannot do much strengthening at this point, but it would be beneficial to get some modalities done to help with the pain and swelling. Good luck! Hope all is well with you and J!
