  • I've seen this before.  I couldn't believe in TX we allow 1st cousin marriages.  That's disgusting.

  • Yep, it's a pretty sad thing that you can marry your cousin, but not your same-sex partner...

  • Yup.

ETA: I love that it's this cluster of NE states (totally expected) and good ol' Iowa.  IOWA!  So random, it makes me giggle.

I was kind of surprised you couldn't in Arkansas.

  • I think you have to be a second cousin before you can marry in KY.  I know when we were filling out our license, they said something related to it.

  • Food for thought...

According to the 2000 US Census, there are 595,000 same sex households.  If those households would be allowed to get married I can only imagine what it would do to the economy.  The average cost of a wedding in the US is $26,542.  If everyone of those same sex households got married it would put roughly $15,792,490,000 back into the economy.  Talk about a stimulus!

  • yeah.... so Lance and I are sitting here trying to figure out which state is which hahaha!

This is a huge eye opener. I think same sex couples are okay to be married all over Canada. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • I could be wrong but I thought I read in a textbook once that Kentucky is second cousins. *shakes head* How ridiculous.
