Re: POLL: What do you say?
It didn't really hit me until today and I was reading the website from this famous local food joint and they said "once you're online....". and when spelled like 'online' as in 'on the computer' it suddenly looked so strange to me!
Weirdo. I would assume you wanted me to access the internet lol.
LOL DH is going to love this. He is always pointing out how differently things are said here than where he grew up (MI and WI). I've only ever lived here, so I have no idea.
Weird fo sho!
Agree. On line sounds like an internet thing.
It does sound like an internet thing - but the internet is new! I've been saying it like that for a long time - longer than the interwebz has existed!
Now I feel like I need to call my Mom and siblings and see how they say it, LOL.
Why is nothing similar between here and OC? It's a looooooong hour away, I guess?
Weird!
This
I think it's a tri-state area thing. I have friends in Jersey who say "on line."
Katie, I'm dying to know what crazy things Rochesterians say.

POP!!! That is the one that gets me the most. My mom calls it pop (being that she lived in Rochester for a large chunk of her life), there is even an aisle in Wegman's that says POP. Ahhhh!! It is soda!!
Also, why do you guys only have rectangle pizza in Rochester? I have never, ever had a circular pizza there, no matter where it is ordered from. That is so weird to me.
We say "in line," but quite often when we are in Disney, it's all people from NY or NJ and we hear "on line" quite a bit... I figured it was a NE thing but I didn't realize it was so localized.
I won't call you weird, since I took it pretty hard for calling a "sliding glass door" a doorwall.
Doorwall still cracks me up. I don't think I have weird sayings but my accent makes up for it.
Doorwall weirdos! It's gotta be an east side of the state thing :-)
I definitely say, "in line" and I'm only 3ish hours from you.
I actually say soda, but said pop when I was younger. I guess I interchange them sometimes, but I prefer soda, too.
And rectangle pizza?? Whaaa? If it's a sheet pizza, sure. Otherwise, I've never seen a rectangle pizza.

Really??? I'll quit giving you shiit for it then.
