Vent: Life just isn't fair

So, I learned today that a client I've been working with, off and on, for the past three years was diagnosed with cancer, for the THIRD time.  As if once wasn't enough.  First it was thyroid, then cervical, and now intestinal cancer.  Three times in about 4 years.  She's the sweetest lady and has four adorable children.  The youngest child is now 4 and all she's ever seen is her mom battling cancer.  Cancer sucks!!  I hope to see a cure in my lifetime.

  • So sorry that this keeps happening. My grandma beat cancer once and then it came back, it is just not fair. And the fact that it is so common now is really scary. I hope and pray they find a cure soon. Sounds like your client is a tough lady, hoping she can overcome it for the last time!

  • I know the feeling. My dad is now battling Lymphoma for the 2nd time in 3 years. Have you thought about donating or doing a walk for cancer? I did a fundraiser and walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and it made me feel good to give something back.

  • I agree. My dad died of colon cancer when I was 14. Every year we give to the American Cancer Society and I donate in my father's name. When we lived in Indiana I ran 5k's (pretty much every other weekend) for random cancer foundations in his name too. It makes me feel better getting the word out about cancer - not only about prevention but about the toll it takes on families, on the cancer patient's body and the lasting effects.

  • I'm sorry.  I'm so sick of cancer, it has affected too many people close to me in the last 5 years.  Right now DH's grandpa has been battling bladder cancer that spread to his lung.  We found out last week that the chemo isn't working and it has moved to his other lung.  It really sucks, he is only 70.

  • Thank you ladies for your kind thoughts.  I think I'll donate to the Angel Foundation.  It will make me feel like I'm doing something meaningful.
