How many of you are going to hand out candy on Halloween??[Poll]
Re: CP: Halloween candy
I'm torn on this. This will be the first time in years that we've lived in town vs. the country. The last time I handed out candy though, all we got were teenagers who through some paint on their face and that was it. I like seeing the little kids all excited and dressed up! I don't want to just hand out candy to a 15 year old who's just looking for free candy.
Maybe I value the effort put into getting dressed up too much......
Last year we went to a last minute Halloween party so we weren't home. I'm not sure when to expect trick or treaters because it's a Monday this year. Will we get some on Sunday night? or just Monday? So I'm currently undecided.
We have lived in our house for the last 2 years since they have been on the weekend I have not handed out candy. This year I will only because Greg will be home because I am not sure how Pierce will do with all the people coming to the door. This will be our last year to hand out candy for a while since next year we will have B.
Secertly I hope we dont get a lot of trick or treaters so I can eat the left over candy:)
We live in a kind of rough neighborhood, so I don't know... A few years ago I was sick on Halloween and K was out hunting. Our bedroom is right above the porch and I woke up to five teenage kids kicking and beating on my door screaming, "Open up and give me some fvckin' candy assholes!" That makes me want to sit upstairs and throw eggs on people instead of hand out candy.
But I'll probably still buy the candy and pretend I want to give it out so that I can eat it all myself. Mwah ha ha ha!
OMG! That is awful! I probably would have wanted to throw something at them as well.
OMG, that would've scared the crap outa me!!!
I would totally use his youngness as an excuse to go trick or treating since it his first but to be able to keep all his candy for yourself.
See, next year, when he can actually walk up to the houses (but when mommy and daddy only let him have so much candy) we will totally reap the benefits!
Love this!
Since Halloween is on Monday night we'll be watching MNF, drinking beer and giving out candy.
Sunshine-OMG! I would have been pissed. Yeah, I definitely would not want to give out candy after that incident.
We are giving out candy. Last year, I kid you not, we got about 100 kids. I got skull buckets and filled them with candy and little goodies. We gave out all 50 of those, the extra candy we had, plus we had to go out and buy more candy. It was our first year in the new neighborhood so it was completely unexpected. Previous years we would get 20 trick or treaters max.
We're debating whether to give out full size bars or the same little buckets. I'm afraid that if we give out full size bars we will get a lot of older people (perhaps not in costume) trick or treating at the house.
Our neighborhood gets tons of kids, and we only had a few teenagers last year, which made me happy.
Funny story - there's a boy around the corner who LOVES our dog, and he came to our door, and was like, hi Gingerrrrrrr! when he saw her. After the boy leaves, H goes, huh, I wonder how that little girl knows Ginger. I was like, dude, that is xyz Boy, he's just dressed as a girl for Halloween. H was fooled by the crappy blonde wig the boy was wearing. Uh, plus he does still have a pretty high voice.
I chose no. We live in the middle of nowhere, way back off the road so noone comes to our house... even if we wanted to pass it out. (The dogs would make us crazy with constant barking and trying to push thier way out the door to lick people to death).
We did live in a trailer park for a couple years and I thought we would have tons of kids, but I think b/c of the area our house was in and since none of the houses around us had lights on, we were skipped by most of the kids. It was a waste for the most part. I love to see all the costumes. Good thing I generally work at schools and can participate in some of the festivities to get my cool costume fix.
My poor children are doomed to have a mom who is nuts about making thier Halloween costumes. This "crafty biitch" knows she won't be able to hold it in.
