Shampoo Poll

1.) What kind of shampoo/conditioner are you currently using?

2.) Do you always buy the same brands and types, or do you try different kinds? If so, what other kinds do you like or have you bought?

3.) I know this is really weird, and maybe it was only my school. But was there ever a certain type of shampoo that was "the cool shampoo" to use when you were, say, middle school aged? I ask because I was remembering that in 6th grade ('93-'94 for me), all the cool girls used Pantene Pro-V. So weird, I know. And to this day I still think of it as the "cool' shampoo, even though it's not my favorite.

Re: Shampoo Poll

  • 1)  Aveeno/Aveeno.

    2)  Nope.  Doesn't matter to me.  I get the same results, regardless of brand/formula, etc., so I just buy whatever sounds nifty.

    3)  Nope.  I wasn't a cool girl so I definitely didn't keep up with that.  ;)

  • 1. Last time I got my hair colored, the stylist talked me into a color protector shampoo. And then of course, it was buy 2 get one free, I walked out of there with shampoo, conditioner & some thing that's supposed to add shine.
I don't think the color protector works any better than any other cheapo s/c combo I usually buy. The shiner does not add shine. It adds grease. Just an FYI.
    2. I usually buy whatever. I really prefer Trader Joes s/c but there is no convenient store for me.
    3. I was in that 'cool girl' group in middle school. I don't recall there being a cool shampoo, but I do remember everyone needing a particular razor.

  • 1) Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner only because I am red right now and red is really hard to keep fresh. It's a little heavy for my hair type so I also am alternating with Matrix Amplify conditioner . As soon as they are gone I'll go back to my favorite.

    2) I prefer and usually stick to Big Sexy Hair because it is what I have the best results with. I often buy the big bottles from places like TJMaxx or Marshall and if the don't have Sexy Hair, I occasionally will buy something else if it is Matrix or Redkin and if it is the right formula for my hair type. I guess I am picky about shampoo and conditioner. But my H is too.

    3) Definitely Pantene when I was growing up. But it was the skinny bottles with the gold cap.

  • 1. I use Joico (Kpak).

    2. I use the same kind. It's the only kind that doesn't build up in my hair and cause flaky nastiness. & after all I've put my hair through it seems to keep it from falling out.

    3. I have no idea what was popular when I was in school. I have 5 sisters, all with long hair, my Mom could have cared less what was popular.

  • 1. Currently I think it's Dove.

    2. I buy whatever is on sale or I have a coupon for.  My hair is my hair no matter what I use, so I just get what I can get for a good deal.

    3. LoL no, I do not recall that!  But I do use Pantene often, so I guess I am cool ;)

  • 1.) What kind of shampoo/conditioner are you currently using?

I use Suave (gasp) clarifying shampoo and infusium 23 moisturizing shampoo and conditioner regularly.  For fancy events I use Frederic Fekkai but that *** is SUPER expensive.

2.) Do you always buy the same brands and types, or do you try different kinds? If so, what other kinds do you like or have you bought?

No because I got something going on with my scalp.  It's almost like a rash that breaks out if I use the same shampoo for too long.  I think I have some sort of allergy to a chemical.  Some shampoos cause it to really flare up and once I switch brands it's better.  I really should schedule an appointment with the dermatologist.  It's been going on for over a year now.

However, I was watching an infomercial late at night (because I am lame) and I watched something about WEN shampoo.  Actually it's not even shampoo, I really have no idea what it would be classified as.  They swear it will clean your hair and leave it in the best condition ever (supposably).  There are no harsh chemicals which is good for the hair and scalp.  I am thinking of giving that a try to see if it helps with my scalp issues.  I read the reviews online and they mostly seemed positive.  Tons of celebrities endorse the product.....not that that really means anything, LOL.

Herbal Essences.  I tried to use that crap and it ALWAYS made my hair a big grease ball.  So I was uncool in that aspect (and many other aspects as well) :P

After Maisy was born, for the few 2 months of middle of the night feedings I kept the tv on as both a light source and something to do while awake nursing, and about the only thing there was on at 4 am was VH1 or infomercials. I saw the WEN one a lot and it made me want it.

I asked my H if I could purchase it and he said "yeah, go ahead".  When I told him it cost $45 a bottle he said, "nope, nevermind".  Ha.  But I am planning on buying it soon, I have just been spending too much money lately so I thought I should put it off for awhile.

Once I try it I will let you know how I like it!!

Oh yah, herbal essense was big when I was in school too - I think a few of my sisters used it ,but it wouldn't do for my horse mane hair.

  • 1. Matrix Essentials Amplify shampoo; no conditioner.  I have super fine hair (could use a baby brush) and the slightest amount of conditioner makes it fall flat instantly.

    2. I used to buy Sunsilk for fine hair, but they took it off of the market almost everywhere except Abu Dhabi and Australia... I miss my cheap shampoo :*(

    3. Cool shampoo was herbal essences.  I didn't like it, and my hair didn't either.

  • I'm currently using Rusk's brilliant shampoo for color protecting.  It is grapefruit vanilla scented and the conditioner is a leave in spray which I haven't used in years.  I am loving it.  I also have giant bottles of Redkin (whichever the brown one is) that I alternate because my hair likes me to change up what I'm using every few days.  We don't like to get in a rut, my hair and I :)   I like all the Redkins, and the Matrix's.  Don't do well with Paul Mitchell.

I was not in the cool group.  I used whatever my parents bought.  But remember Pert Plus?  My mom had that at her house last week when I was visiting.  Maybe that's why I wasn't cool :)
