Ethical question for you.

T has swim lessons tonight, H will be in the pool with him.  The class is 30 mins long.

My treadmill is broken and tonight is running night.  When we get home, it will be dark out (or getting close.)  It's scary running in the dark alone.

I was thinking about using the outdoor track while T is swimming.  But we aren't members.

I shouldn't do this, right?  Blah.

Maybe I will just run in the (shady) neighborhood.

Re: Ethical question for you.

  • Ethically... you answer your own question.

But, you could explain to the folks working there the situation, and see if they have free trial day or a small day rate.

  • I would probably just ask at the front desk. "My H and Child are in for swim lessons, is it ok with you if I run on the track until class is over?" If you aren't taking a machine or weights, and it isn't very busy, they probably won't care since you are paying something to be there.

    Yeah, I will just ask.

I worked there for years and years and still know a lot of people there.  They probably won't care.

Yup, this is what I would do too.  They may even have a free day pass you could use.

  • It's probably too late, but I think it's okay for you to run on their outdoor track.  I would feel differently about running on a treadmill.  If you got there and the track was crazy crowded, maybe not, but I doubt it would be busy.
  • I ran on the bike path that practically runs through the parking lot.  I forgot all about it.  It was really nice running by the water.

  • Glad that worked out for you! Running/riding by water is the best.

That's cool.  That sounds much nicer than running on an outdoor track.
