I'd like to know your thoughts on this FB status i saw today:
So sad the filthy rich guy died. R.I.P. guy I've never met, known, or thought about. But hey, since we're all mourning people we didn't know - I'll throw one out too! Army Pvt. Danny Chen
Died October 3, 2011 serving during Operation Enduring Freedom
19, of New York; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska; died Oct. 3 in Kandahar province, Afghanista
Verbal comments are great, but i'm including a clicky in case someone wants to share their opinion more anonymously or succinctly.

Out of curiousity, do you use a mouse with your computer? Steve Jobs through Apple, is actually pretty responsible for a lot of technology as we know it...Apple brought us the mouse. Apple was able to man-handle the music companies to make digital music the reality we know today. Steve Jobs's innovations have had massive influence on graphics, music, home editing, and have helped make it possible for more independent/home artists to produce work. I'm curious to see what will happen to Apple. The NPR article I was listening to yesterday commented that Apple was in a serious decline in the 90s until Jobs came back.
On topic, I get the sentiment of the FB status, but don't really agree that people care about Jobs' death because he was "filthy rich" but because of his huge innovative technology influence.
Of course. And while Steve Jobs may have been a huge innovator in the tech world, I still do not consider him an icon (I do realize others do, but he isn't imo).

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
I agree. I think that every life is valuable and should be celebrated, and that every death is deserving of mourning/life celebration. FWIW, the person who posted that later came back and clarified (uhm, after i talked to them about how it reads) their opinion that each of those people (the soldiers and SJ) deserve recognition.
Ah, man. I want to quit FB... but it's how i stay in contact with a lot of people... alas.

I feel the same way, I literally almost never use it now, but I 'have' to have it in order to stay in contact with people.
