This week has been crazy for me-I'm leaving at 6:00 am and not getting home til' 9:00pm every day, so DH has been pretty much on full time parenting duty.
And I'm SO thankful. Don't get me wrong.
However, he WON'T feed KR food (cereal/veggies) when he gets home from daycare. He prefers to give KR a bottle because it's easier.
Not normally a problem, but we are trying to "fill" him up at night as suggested by our Pedi.
Also, he refuses to dress KR for the weather. Example, we had a powderpuff football game-it was rainy and cold. KR showed up without socks or a hat.
My mom says I should be thankful that he had clothes on. And I get that...but no socks? Really? When I left him with you he had socks on DH! Stop declothing him! (I also come home to KR sans pants with freezing legs-DH says "He has a blanket!")
::sigh::
Re: Really DH? (Breaking Board rule with whine)
I don't think parenting is as natural for men as it is women. Give him some time to figure things out.
As for the "food" filling him up, don't count on it. Parker slept worse once we started solids. I don't know many people whose child slept better with solids.
If I feed him cereal or a veggie then nurse him, 8 times out of 10 he'll only wake up once at 3:30.
Or at least, it seems like that to me! Maybe it's psychological.
The socks and the pants thing though? I've asked him every.time. to leave his pants on.
Even when he puts outfits together...I'll look at it and say "Really Ryan? Would YOU wear this outfit when you go out?"
He answer is always no. It makes me laugh.
Case in point-this was when it was 80 degree's outside:
That would annoy me too...
It took some discussions, but once S and I came to a "this is how things are done" middle ground, taking care of A is much easier as a team.
With clothing, I often set out outfits for the day for A- S will always dress his weather appropriately, but he will put him in polkadots and stripes with plaid shoes...the kid looks like a train wreck.
I know exactly how you feel. I love being able to sleep in when Lance is off shift, but most days it means that Wyatt gets half the breakfast he usually gets, and his morning nap is delayed by an hour, which makes the whole day way more difficult.
Most days when Lance is going to be coming with us somewhere and he might have to dress Wyatt, I lay the clothes out in the morning in somewhere obvious so he doesn't pick clothes out himself.
Men definitely don't get the whole 'the baby's clothes should match' thing. Matt usually asks beforehe dresses Maggie or I leave out clothes when I know that he will be the one dressing him.
Cristin - you should just have a talk with him. That would drive me crazy too!
LMAO this is the best thing I've read all day. I'm sure it's very frustrating to you but reading about it, and not having children, it's cracking me up. I can only imagine what my husband will do when we have kids. He is an only child and hasn't been around ANY kids...well since he was one lol
I'm sure I'll get my pay back someday when I come on here to tell you my DH doens't have a clue. But for now this is great entertainment lol
