Morning!

Morning!  How is everyone?  Big plans for the weekend?

OFTD:  Do you prefer going to the theatre or a movie?

Re: Morning!

  • I am working from home at the moment, while trying to get ready to travel to Dorest for a meeting tomorrow.  Tomorrow will be full-on all day.  I am so over working weekends!  Luckily this is my last one for a while.

On another note, please send me some vibes.  I am travelling down with two colleagues.  One is in her 60s, but her mind-set is older than that and lately everything is either 'During the war' or 'we use to go it this way' referring to how something was done in the early 1990s!  I find her a struggle and she is getting worse.  Hopefully the five hour train ride down will be event free.

QOTD:  I love going to the theatre!

  • Morning! No big plans. Just lots and lots of fall yardwork and cleaning. Maybe, just maybe I can finally get the yard and the house done this weekend....w??ll see just how much DH goes along with that. I bet he ends up sleeping most of the weekend.

QOTD: I haven?t been to the theatre in ages. But I enjoy going when I do. I haven?t been to the movies since I was pg and went to SATC II which was a huge disappointment. Movies are ok, but I don?t just rush out to see them. Usually I get the DVD to watch.

  • Morning.  We're going to a pumpkin patch tomorrow if the weather is OK.  I'm interested to see what it's like compared to the ones I've been to in the US.

QOTD:  Well, the theatre and the movies aren't really activities that I choose between since they're so different.   I like both.

  • Bonjour!

Just finished cleaning and later going to meet a friend for lunch.

QOTD: Since becoming an expat, I can say I've been to the theatre once in the last 10 years, that was last year. It was a lot of fun.

I love the movies, but I also rarely get the chance to go, in the last 10 years I've been 3 times: King Kong in Vietnam, there were bats flying around in the movie theatre, so we never returned to see anything else while living there. The movie where Brad Pitt grows young (3 years ago) and then last winter a Canadian film called Incendies that was playing here in Cannes.

  • Morning. We are going to dinner with some friends tonight. Tomorrow probably going to Richmond to hang out in the park then meeting some friends at favorite pub by our old flat. Should be a fun weekend!

    QOTD: Probably movies.

  • Morning! Last day of work before vacation so I'm trying to get everything done. (Which explains the Nesting, I'm sure, heh).

QOTD: I agree with Emily that they are different activities that aren't analogous in my mind, but I tend to view the theatre as a bigger treat. I've only been to the cinema once over here and have been to theatre....well, probably every other month or so. But that's because the cinema is SO expensive, and for that price, I'd so much rather see something 'live.'

  • Morning!  Another day of work here, but I need to head over to the pharmacy around lunchtime to pick up DH's prescription.  He's still dealing with allergies, poor guy.

QOTD:  I love both, but I'm more likely to go to the theatre if it's ballet than anything.  Movies, I'm all over it!

  • Good morning! I'm off to an incredibly slow start today thanks to some hip pain from baby. I have a work meeting up in north London and then some time to kill before my hubby takes me on a surprise date. This weekend's mission is to find a dress to wear to my SIL's wedding in 2 weeks. QOTD: I enjoy both but the theatre does have an extra special feel to it.

Was it good? It's at the movie theater here and we were thinking of seeing it.

Work. Class. Work. Watching a movie with the Italian class (required for the course). Then dinner with some people DH met at a conference last month. Haven't met them, but judging from their choice of restaurant, it's not going to be good (we're going to a chain restaurant a mall....bleh).

QOTD: I love going to the movie theater because it's fun, relaxing, and I get to eat candy or popcorn. I also enjoy the theater whenever we do go every so often, though it can be more hit or miss if you don't know the show. It's easier to make fun of a crappy movie then it is to sit through a 3 hour terrible performance.

  • Good morning!

I have no real plans for the weekend.  I may get up early on Sunday morning to watch the live-stream of the LSU/Florida game, but I may not.  I was up before 6 today and yesterday to watch streaming coverage of Archbishop Hannan's funeral -- which both fed and eased my homesickness.  I've had a really hard week dealing with homesickness and missing being in a place where I don't have to explain things.  I'm hoping next week will be better.

QOTD:  It depends.  The experience is not the same.  Live shows have a vibe that movies do not, but movies have a scope that live shows do not.  I like both for different reasons.

  • Morning. Vibes to you MRs DRJ!

I'm slightly slacking at work today. I have meetings from 3 - 7 tonight and its the last day my deputy is in before he leaves for another job, so I know as of next week, my life will be hell. Not the most productive way to think about this, but I feel like this morning is my last chance to slightly slack, so damnit, I'm doing it!

QOTD: I also see them as too different to compare. I guess if I had to choose, I'd say theatre, because it's more of a treat. As high as the movie prices are in London already, I usually end up seeing films on Love Film.

  • Good morning! No big plans for the weekend. H and I have spent the last two weeks running around like crazy. I'm excited to just chill out for a few days. Today is my birthday, but I specifically made plans not to go out. I'm happy with just celebrating by having extra special dessert tonight. Smile

QOTD: I prefer the theater over the movies, mostly because I think movie theaters are pretty dirty.

  • Good Afternoon!

I'm doing good...looking forward to getting off work at 3:30pm and sleeping in the car. We're heading down to Stuttgart Germany for Oktoberfest with a bunch of coworkers this weekend! I am excited to wear my Oktoberfest costume again, and just hope I am not freezing in it!

QOTD: I prefer the movies. I love going to the theatre but its really more of a treat/special occassion. We got to the movies all the time - DH and I are both movie junkies...especially when there is candy and popcorn involved Big Smile Great for a rainy day (of which there are a lot in Belgium!)

  • Morning all.  Late start for me this morning and it's been nothing but rain through the night and this morning -- sun showers now, I'm trying to figure out what to wear to work.  Today's my last day at KSC and I gotta say, I'm pretty psyched.  I don't have to be at work tomorrow until 1430...can you say 'enjoying the morning at the beach with BF'? Heck yes.

QOTD: Love the theatre.  And actually, I've been more often to the theatre with BF than the cinema.  I think we've only seen two movies together and we've been to, wait, okay two musicals, lol.  I HIGHLY recommend 'The Book of Mormon' next time you go to NYC.  Hilarious!

  • Morning sunshines!

I got up super early to cook DH a big pre-Yom Kippur fast breakfast and lunch. Got tons of errands to do before Kol Nidre services tonight and Yom Kippur on Saturday, but instead I'm nesting, drinking coffee and sitting my pregnant ass on the couch.  No big plans other than Yom Kippuring it all weekend, then watching the Alabama game at home and inviting friends over for brunch on Sunday.

QOTD: Hate to admit I've never been to the theater during my adult life (used to go with my grandmother as a kid).  So I guess that makes me a movie-goer.

Oh and a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Brit's Luna!  Hope it's a good one girl!

It is amazing! One of my favourite films ever.

    Go see it!
