6 week pp appointment

My weight loss is going well, down to 150, have 13 to lose to me where I was before C and 25 to go to be before Jack. I hope to lose 20 more and be happy.  I can now start to work out and be more active.  This weekend I plan to horseback ride a few times with the cousins upstate and go hike up a waterfall/cliff off of 23a near Hunter Mtn.

Bad news- no IUD for me.  My Dr tried 2 times (and OMG the pain).  The first time it didnt settled high enough and the 2nd time it didn't go in right and borrowed into the wall.  I have a tilted uterus (another reason for J's csection).  I cried from pain and pressure.  My csection has less pressure/tugging.  So I am trying the pill for now, she said we can reattempt in Feb when I go for my yearly exam.  Not sure if I want to or look at another form of birth control.   This is the first time ever on anything for me so I went in nervous.  So I hope this works now.

  • My doctor told me they would not try to put in an IUD until at least 6 months PP.  Not sure if Feb is past that time but I would wait until at least then.  Good luck!

  • Yikes!  I'm surprised they would try to put an IUD in so soon -- doesn't the uterus need more time to settle back down into a more regular shape/size?  Good luck with the pill -- I have no idea what we're going to do after baby ELF.  I had a lot of emotional/depression issues from taking the pill, so I don't want to go back on any kind of hormonal bc.  Maybe I'll just keep charting and TTA.  My cycles are surprisingly predictable, so that might work, esp given our low chances of conceiving anyway.

Not sure if that is the name or not.  It is on the side of the mountain you have to drive around and around (much like the Bear Mountain),  you have to park at a look out and walk down the road to the trails.  Does that sound familiar?  I will check the name when we are there, think Sunday since DH has a hunt scheduled Saturday with the dog while up there.

  • Congrats and on your weight loss! I'm sure keeping active with two little ones will only help you to meet your goals. As for the IUD, I'm really surprised they even considered trying one for you at only 6 weeks PP. Your uterus is in no way ready for a device as it takes at least 6 months fir everything to get back to normal, especially after a c-section. I wouldn't count out getting one later on. Good luck with the pill. I was on OrthoTriCyclen for years before TTC with success.

  • I agree that's super early for an IUD.  I've been on a bunch of different pills and other things over the years, and agree that it will take some fiddling around until you find something right for you.  I tihnk the key is to give it a shot unless you are having a serious side effect - at least 3 months.  A little weight gain initally, sore breasts, headache, etc....all normal since you are putting a hormone into your body.

    Congratulations on the weight loss!!!
