I need some crafty input!

I had a coupon code for fabric.com so I went a little crazy and bought over $75 worth of stuff (but I got it for less than $50!)  I got a half yard of eight different fabirc from Robert Kaufmans "Celebrate Seuss" line, I am in love with it!

I want to make a blanket for DS, something smallish, with minky on the back. My original plan was just plain 6" squares but now I am second guessing myself and thinking I could do something way cooler with this.  Any ideas? What quilt pattern would you use with this fabric?

  • I made DS a quilt with it:

    I did:

    R-Rectangle S-Square

    R1: R/S/R/S/R/S

    R2:S/R/S/R/S/R

    repeat for rows 3-8.

He also has a small rag quilt that was my first quilting project ever. It is a 20x20 lovey size backed with minky.

Awww thanks! :) Your little guy is adorable, too.

My quilt includes all the fabrics from the line. The rainbow stripe was used as the binding and I used the other 20 prints on the front.  Each print is represented each time, either as 2Rs and 1S or 1R ans 2S. :) I wanted a simple design with bigger blocks so the fabric could speak for itself. The Rs-6x8 and the S-6x6. Finished size was 42x60.

  • What fun fabric!

Since you don't have a huge variety of prints from the line, and those kinds of prints are so much fun to fussy cut, I would suggest a pattern like Elizabeth Hartman's Window Panes (I don't know the exact pattern name but it's from her book).  You'd have to get the pattern though so that might be a bit spendy.

Otherwise I would look for any kind of pattern that features fussy cut squares and I would surround them with coordinating solids or simple patterns (polka dots, stripes, etc in primary colours).
