BWLO: What will your kid be for Halloween?

Do you pick it out?
Do they pick it out?
Homemade? Or store bought?

Cute? Fun? Clever? Traditional?

Re: BWLO: What will your kid be for Halloween?

  • Grandma bought Elle a Tinkerbelle costume.  I was going to try for something cute and homemade but Grandma's credit card ruled.  Which is actually fine, in a couple years when she is more aware then maybe we can be crafty together.  It is pretty traditional but that doesn't bother me and it is very cute.  I will probably be a pirate to go along with in since I don't want to dress as Peter Pan and Wendy spends the whole movie in a nightgown(and that ain't gonna fly as a middle school teacher).

  • I was going to make a Tinkerbell costume for Alex, but we went to the store and she loved a girl pirate costume we saw. It was cheaper than making one, less time to deal with and she loved it so much she wore the dress around the store.

too bad we don't live closer and Elle and Alex could pal around all day in their costumes.

  • Supposedly using a hand-me-down from my sister but Jane hasn't even been able to try it on yet but since it was offered - DH is being an a$$ about buying one.  Which, whatever, until this one doesn't fit and all they have left at the store is like Superman or something.  Blargh.
  • I don't know how many times I've said it but I want to go as Barney, Betty and Bam Bam but Mike will not get on the same page as me.

Other than that I had no clue... until I saw this.

And now I am seriously considering it.

My nephew was something similar, around Z's age too. SIL made him into a biker because he split his head at his eyebrow just before. She put him in jeans, boots, leather Sesame Street Chop Shop jacket, flame bandana and a painted on beard. All the neighbors said he had the best costume they had ever seen.

Too funny, they would be adorable together.

  • My H decided that Jack should be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween, and even went out and bought the costume already. So I guess that is what he is going to be! Jack is too young to really have an opinion on it, and he loves "BUZZ!" so he will be happy with it.

  • I still don't know what Sawyer is going to be.  I wanted to make him a gnome costume, but I'll probably just end up buying one of the Carters or similar costumes.  Not a clue which one, though...

  • Last year: Elvis

This year: a monkey because he loves them at the zoo

So far they've both been store bought. I hope to make them someday.

  • My mom bought Nora the Carter's duck costume. At this age, I don't really care what she goes as--she's going to be cute regardless, you know? And although I would like to try to make costumes when she's older, I'm letting it slide since she's too little to know any better. We have way too much going on in our lives with the house renos to add that to my plate this year!

  • Kellen and Tessa are going as Batman and Catwoman. I plan on making both of the costumes and have it pretty much figured out, just need to buy everything. I really wanted to do Bam Bam and Pebbles, but Tessa has no hair :-(
  • Erin if your kiddos are going to be super heroes, I think you should be Super Mom. Seriously, so cute:

(I saw this on etsy when googling around for a cape for my own batgirl costume)

  • Abby is going to be Little Bo Peep and the twins are sheep/lambs.  Another twin MoM gave the idea and I thought it was cute!  Definitely bought the costumes!  LOL
  • Mads is dressing up as an 80s aerobics instructor/flashdance-esque girl.  Comfortable for her, made up mostly from stuff she already has (just need to buy a leotard & sweatband) & easy for her to move around in :)

And Trickey- that picture is too funny.... Zach would be too cute running around like that!

  • Is it bad that I don't know if I'm even going to get Marshall a costume?  I'm not huge into Halloween and I can't imagine taking him trick or treating in the neighborhood yet.  Maybe next year when he can walk.

So it seems silly to me to get him a costume just so that I can take pictures of him and IF we did trick or treat it would pretty much just be to the neighbors across the street...and we don't really have family close enough to go see.  At least I'm not going to drive the 30 minutes to go see my brother.

    So we'll see...
