Random baby name chatter

What do we think of the name Rafe?

I've added it to my boy list. I really like it. It sounds manly, which probably explains why I got it from a Nora Roberts romance book. LOL!

Re: Random baby name chatter

  • I feel like I've heard it before.  In a movie.  It belonged to a sexy man.  Can't put my finger on it though.

I don't think I'd ever use it, but I like the name.

  • I think it is super cute. There was a cutie little boy at my school with that name, so I am biased.

  • I've never seen it as "Rafe" only Ralph Fiennes -- who pronounces it "Rafe".

I don't love it - but I am a traditional name lover so this is no surprise.

According to IMDB, his name was Tripp in Failure to Launch.

This is going to eat at me all day now...

It was Ben Affleck's character in Pearl Harbor.

  • Characters named Rafe:

And I am pronouncing it like Rave, with an F ... not Raa-fee. Which according to google is just as typical.

I'm on the last one, and way sad - I want more McKade brothers, and one I can keep for myself. ;) The heroines don't take crap from anybody either, which I love.

    Rafe has been my favorite.

  • There is a Rafe on my soap opera.  I like the name, but it definitely sounds like a soap opera/ romance novel name.... which isn't necessarily bad.

  • NMS, but I do love Ben Affleck's character Rafe in Pearl Harbor!
  • I don't mind it.  It makes me think of a studly but mysterious European guy who would try to charm the pants off you, then disappear into thin air.  Haha!  Also, he drinks wine & eats pizza al fresco.

  • NMS.. I also like traditional names.  Since it's NMS, I also think it doesn't go well with Zachary since thats a traditional name.  I also thought it was pronounced Rah-fee.

This is more or less the mental picture I have going on in my head!

  • I am not loving it either...
