More baby name chatter

DH and I are supposed to be keeping the name of our baby a secret. But I'm really doing that more just to frustrate both moms who are going crazy not knowing the name. You girls are always the exception to every "rule" :-)

I'm really liking Biblical names but DH has already vetoed some of my faves including Ezra, Isaac, Caleb, Josiah and Isaiah.

What do you think of Judah?

Any particular nicknames that come to mind besides Jude?

ETA: The reason I asked about nicknames is because DH thinks kids will call him "Jew." I think my DH has lost it...

Re: More baby name chatter

  • I think Jude is cute.  The only other I can think of is Judd.  I actually know someone who goes by Judd, but I don't know if his real name is Judah :(
  • I really like Judah.

I can't think of any other nn besides Jude... hmm.

    Happiest place on Earth!

  • Really like it! :)  I can't think of any other nn's besides Jude with the exception of an initial nn such as JR, JT, etc.

Other Biblical/ Saint names I like are Aaron, Jeremiah, Gideon, Matthias, Canaan, Elijah, and Levi.

However, I love many of the other biblical names that you've mentioned! I like a strong name, especially for a boy.

  • Not a fan. I like Jude, but not Judah.

My thoughts exactly.  I immediately converted Judah to Judas in my head.  Maybe it's just me, but if others do the same thing, and you think you might give other future children biblic names, you might want to avoid the Judas association.

I do like Jude, though, and it's really too bad you couldn't get your husband on board with some of your other choices... I love them!

  • Judah with Jude all the way. Kids won't call him Jew. :-)

ETA: Ezra is such a cool name. How about Amos for another cool biblical name? It's on our list and I'm really falling in love with it.

  • I like biblical names too, and I think Judah is really cute. Not sure what you'd call him though.

Haha.  Well I didn't see your "ETA" up there and the first thing that came to mind was "Ju" but it doesn't sound real good.  I think Jude will work just find.

This is exactly what I thought!!  Too bad DH vetoed Caleb cause I love that name!

  • I like it, with Jude as a nn.  I love biblical boy names.... Caleb, Micah & Jonah were all on my boy list.

Micah was also on my short list! But... vetoed. DH likes Keaton, Weston and Brayden. The only name we quasi-agree on is Austin. It's obvs not a Biblical name though.
  • My friend Erica her son's name is Judah. She calls him Jude sometimes as a nickname but for the most part she always just calls him by his name.
  • Judah is one of my favorite students! I taught him in 1st grade & in 4th. Now he is in 6th grade! :(
