I work in patient registration for a health system. We use the social for tricare policies. Today I accepted a military i.d. from a patient but when I looked for the social I realized that the number of characters in the i.d. field were too many for a social. From what I was told by the patient that as of Sept 1st they are no longer putting the social on the i.d. cards. So my question is are they going to start using this generic number as the policy number instead of the social?
My son is still on XH's tricare and we use his social. I haven't spoken to him in 3 years and really don't want to call him looking for this generic number.

Re: Tricare question
I was just caught a little off guard with it.
